A method for wireless communication at a first wireless device and related apparatus are provided. In the method, the first wireless device communicates a first reference signal with a second wireless device based on a first frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW). The first wireless device further communicates a second reference signal with the second wireless device. The second reference signal is based on a second FMCW and has a second frequency bandwidth. The second frequency bandwidth is smaller than the first frequency bandwidth of the first reference signal, and the second reference signal has a frequency location based on the first reference signal. The first wireless device further communicates data with the second wireless device based on a channel estimation for a channel between the first wireless device and the second wireless device based on the second reference signal.

Two-step FMCW transmission for channel measurement accuracy enhancement

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may release a connection with a first network entity and determine a first virtual coverage area of the UE based on a geographic location of the UE associated with the release of the connection. The UE may obtain a message that includes area information. The area information may be indicative of one or more second virtual coverage areas, which the UE may use in determining whether to monitor for a paging early indication (PEI). Based on the first virtual coverage area and the one or more second virtual coverage areas may monitor for a paging message, such as the PEI or downlink control information (DCI) associated with a paging occasion.

Paging message communication in a non-terrestrial network

A method of wireless communication is disclosed herein. The method includes measuring a WB channel via FMCW channel estimation. The method includes selecting a WB SSB and a subband in a BWP based on the measured WB channel. The method includes performing a RACH procedure based on the WB SSB and the subband in the BWP. The method includes outputting an indication of the performed RACH procedure based on the WB SSB and the subband in the BWP.

Disclosed are techniques for positioning. In an aspect, a positioning entity receives a report indicating an operation mode of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) associated with at least one base station, receives a transmission-to-reception (Tx-Rx) time difference measurement for a network node involved in a round-trip-time (RTT) positioning session with a user equipment (UE), determines a reception-to-transmission (Rx-Tx) time difference measurement for the UE, the Rx-Tx time difference measurement representing a difference between a reception time at the UE of a downlink positioning reference signal from the RIS and a transmission time from the UE of an uplink positioning reference signal towards the RIS, and calculates a distance between the UE and the RIS based, at least in part, on the Tx-Rx time difference measurement and the Rx-Tx time difference measurement.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) aided round-trip-time (RTT)-based user equipment (UE) positioning

In an aspect, a relay UE transmits sidelink reference signals for positioning (SL-RS-P) off first and second reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). The target UE measures the reflected SL-RS-Ps. In an aspect, the SL-RS-Ps may be associated with configurations that are configured by a base station. In an aspect, a position estimation entity may obtain measurement information associated with the reflected SL-RS-Ps and determine a position estimate of the target UE based at least in part upon the measurement information.

Sidelink reference signal for reconfigurable intelligent surface aided positioning

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first network entity may encode first information using keying modulation. The first network entity may encode second information using frequency modulated continuous waveform (FMCW) modulation. The first network entity may transmit a communication that includes a first layer indicating the first information and a second layer indicating the second information. Numerous other aspects are described.

An apparatus comprises: an interface; a memory; and a processor, communicatively coupled to the interface and the memory, configured to: instruct a node to send a first cellular reference signal to a target UE (user equipment) and to another UE, the node being a cellular-communication node; instruct, via the interface, the target UE to report to the node a first time difference, the first time difference being a first time amount between receipt of the first cellular reference signal by the target UE and transmission of a second cellular reference signal by the target UE; and instruct, via the interface, the other UE to report a second time difference, the second time difference being a second time amount between receipt of the first cellular reference signal by the other UE and receipt of the second cellular reference signal, in a cross-link interference resource, by the other UE.

RTT-based positioning with CLI measurement

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a broadcast message via a cell associated with a network entity. The broadcast message may include an indication that the cell supports a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. In some examples, the first RAT may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (SCS) and the second RAT may be associated with a second SCS. The UE may perform measurements of one or more reference signals associated with the first RAT based on the indication. In some examples, the one or more reference signals may be multiplexed with physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) data. The UE may transmit a channel feedback report to the network entity based on performing measurements of the one or more reference signals, and may demodulate the PDSCH data using the first SCS and the second SCS.

Techniques for dynamic spectrum sharing between radio access technologies

Aspects presented herein may enable a UE to perform positioning using virtual anchors and/or positioning reference units. In one aspect, a UE transmits a request for assistance data for performing UE-based positioning, where the request includes at least one of location information of the UE or a list of anchors observed by the UE. The UE receives the assistance data for the UE-based positioning, where the assistance data includes a list of virtual anchors and a list of positioning reference units (PRUs) that includes a set of virtual PRUs (VPRUs), where the list of virtual anchors and the list of PRUs are selected based on at least one of the location information of the UE or the list of anchors observed by the UE. The UE performs the UE-based positioning using at least one virtual anchor and at least one VPRU in the assistance data.

Virtual positioning reference unit for positioning

Reference signals used in location estimation of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless data network can be secured against a man-in-the-middle attack by a transmitting device withholding the conveyance of transmission parameters for decoding portions of a reference signal until after the portions are transmitted. Thus, receiving devices can buffer received signals and, after receiving the transmission parameters, process the buffered signals. To further prevent an attacker device from attacking future reference signals, transmission parameters can be nondeterministic such that an attacker device obtaining a parameter at a certain period of time is unable to use the decoded parameter predict or determine subsequent transmission parameters.

Positioning reference signal (PRS) securitization in user equipment (UE) positioning

Disclosed are techniques for wireless sensing. In an aspect, a method for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted sensing performed by a base station (BS) includes configuring one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs for sensing, wherein each of the one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs comprises a downlink (DL) beam having a DL angle of departure (DL AoD) from a RIS controlled by a first set of control voltages and an uplink (UL) beam having an UL AoD from the RIS controlled by a second set of control voltages. The BS may send, to the RIS, information identifying the one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs. The BS may perform monostatic sensing using at least one of the one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted sensing

Disclosed are systems, apparatuses, processes, and computer-readable media for wireless communications. For example, an example of a process includes receiving a signal comprising a slot including at least one shared signal resource. The process further includes determining whether the slot is allocated for sensing and communications or is allocated for communications. The process further includes determining whether to demodulate the at least one shared signal resource using at least one sensing reference signal (RS) resource or at least one communication RS based whether the slot is allocated for sensing and communications or is allocated for communications.

In an aspect, a wireless entity may transmit a first indication of one or more Doppler error group (DEG) identifiers (IDs) corresponding to one or more DEGs supported by the wireless entity, where each of the one or more DEGs is associated with a hardware configuration or an operational state of the wireless entity. In an aspect, a position estimation entity may obtain a first differential round trip time (RTT) measurement based on a first RTT measurement between a user equipment (UE) and a first wireless node and a second RTT measurement between the UE and a second wireless node, may obtain a second differential RTT measurement based on a third RTT measurement between a third wireless node and the first wireless node and a fourth RTT measurement between the third wireless node and the second wireless node, and may determine a positioning estimate of the UE based at least in part on the first differential RTT measurement and the second differential RTT measurement.

Double-differential round trip time measurement

Aspects presented herein may improve the performance and accuracy of a UE positioning based on RIS, such as when the RIS has a limited number of control voltage sets available. In one aspect, a UE obtains an indication of beam pattern information for a set of DL beams for a network entity, where the set of DL beams is associated with an RIS. The UE adjusts a first transmission angle for a set of UL beams based on the beam pattern information and measurement for the set of DL beams, where the first transmission angle for the set of UL beams is adjusted to proximately align with a second transmission angle of the set of DL beams from the RIS. The UE transmits, via the RIS, the set of UL beams to the network entity based on the adjusted first transmission angle.
