According to certain embodiments, a method for use in a network node for scheduling wireless transmissions using a plurality of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmission layers comprises determining a first wireless device is spatially pairable with a second wireless device and that a scheduling priority of the first device is higher than the second device. The method further comprises allocating frequency domain resources of a first transmission layer for the first device according to its scheduling priority and allocating frequency domain resources in a second transmission layer for the second device according to the priority of the first device. The amount of frequency domain resources allocated in the second transmission layer is no larger than that allocated in the first transmission layer. The method further comprises transmitting the data to first wireless device on first transmission layer and to second wireless device on the second transmission layer.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for network testing. In one embodiment, a method in an unmanned vehicle includes controlling a movement of the unmanned vehicle carrying the UE according to a testing location algorithm, the testing location algorithm comprising moving the unmanned vehicle carrying the UE to at least one candidate testing location, determining at least one measurement value at the at least one candidate testing location and determining a reference location based at least in part on the determined at least one measurement value. In another embodiment, a method in a network node initiating a launch of at least one unmanned vehicle of a plurality the unmanned vehicle carrying the UE to at least one candidate testing of unmanned vehicles, each of the at least one unmanned vehicle moving one of the plurality of UEs to a reference location, each reference location corresponding to a testing location.

According to certain embodiments, a method for use in a network node for scheduling wireless transmissions comprises determining a channel quality weight for a first wireless channel based on its number of information bits and a channel quality weight for a second wireless channel based on its number of information bits. The number of information bits is based on a signal to interference plus noise (SINR) measurement and a modulation coding scheme of the wireless channels. The method further comprises determining a scheduling weight for the first wireless device based on the channel quality weight for the first wireless channel, determining a scheduling weight for the second wireless device based on the channel quality weight for the second wireless channel, and scheduling a transmission to one of the first and second wireless devices based on the scheduling weights of the first and second wireless devices.

In one or more embodiments, a network node () for servicing a plurality of wireless devices () using a plurality of carriers is provided. Each carrier of the plurality of carriers is configured with a respective plurality of beams. A method and base station for distributing wireless device traffic load in a wireless communication system having a plurality of base stations are provided. A method includes determining a wireless device traffic load on a serving base station of the plurality of base stations. The method also includes determining a priority for each of a plurality of target base stations of the plurality of base stations, the priority being based at least in part on a number of wireless devices being served by the serving base station that receive a signal from a corresponding target base station that exceeds a threshold. The method further includes determining whether to change the load of the serving base station and sending a load change request to a target base station having a highest priority based on a comparison of the load on the serving base station to a load change threshold.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for handing over of a high-speed mobile terminal or user equipment from a source network node to a target network node. Reliable methods for measuring the speed of a moving user equipment are disclosed. Parameters used in a handover procedure are also adjusted in accordance with the speed of the user equipment. For handing over a high-speed user equipment, the present application discloses that the source network node can coordinate with the target network node and other candidate network nodes in transmitting a handover command to prevent handover failures.

A mobile phone network node may determine traffic load associated with a mobile phone network and initiate discontinuous transmission at a frame level, based at least in part upon, determining that the traffic load is less than a first threshold. The mobile phone network node may further initiate discontinuous transmission at a subframe level, based at least in part upon, determining that the traffic load is greater than the first threshold and less than a second threshold and initiate discontinuous transmission at a symbol level, based at least in part upon, determining that the traffic load is greater than the second threshold.

A base station () dynamically allocates users among broadcast carriers and dynamically allocates carrier resources between broadcast and unicast service, based on the number of users actually receiving broadcast service on a carrier. The base station () periodically measures () the number of broadcast-only users registered to a carrier. As the number of such users decreases, the remaining idle broadcast-only are transferred () to other carriers transmitting the same broadcast content, and carrier resources are reallocated () to unicast service. When the carrier is moderately loaded, it may accept broadcast users transferred from other, lightly-loaded carriers, which are attempting to shed users to reallocate resources to unicast service. As the carrier becomes more heavily loaded, it will refuse () to accept transferred broadcast users. When the carrier's load reaches an upper threshold, the base station () allocates () resources of a new carrier to broadcast service, and moves users to the new carrier.

An apparatus for allocating radio resources shared among a plurality of network operators is provided. Each network operator has at least one scheduling entity, SE, and a respective resource allocation, RA, probability for being selected for radio resource allocation during a transmission time interval, TTI. The apparatus includes a processor and a memory. The memory contains instructions executable by the processor that are configured to cause the apparatus, within a TTI, to select a network operator of the plurality of network operators for resource allocation within the TTI based at least in part on the RA probability of the network operator, allocate radio resources to an SE of the selected network operator within the TTI and update the RA probability of selecting each of the plurality of network operators for a next selection of resource allocation.

The present solution enables a packet switched connection to be temporarily released at the wireless terminal for supporting voice calls over a Circuit-Switched (CS) Fallback. The packet switched connection of the LTE core network retained for a pre-defined period of time during the CSFB session allowing the user to quickly switch back to the packet switched connection when the CSFB session is shorter than the predefined period or when the voice call CSFB attempt fails. A method and system for connection management in a wireless data network, such as a 1xEV-DO network adds connections to new network sectors upon receipt of a connection request from an active terminal, but removes data connections that the active terminal requests to be dropped only after confirmation from the active terminal that a channel allocation message has been received and applied. The active network maintains an active set of connections that is at least as large as the active set maintained by the active terminal and does not initiate a connection termination if no confirmation of the channel allocation message is received. This allows for a reduction in the number of dropped connections.
