A monolithic photonic resonator includes a bulk optic with first and second superpolished facets, and a high-reflectivity coating applied to each of the first and second superpolished facets. The superpolished facets form an optical resonator. The bulk optic is a single piece of an optical material that is solid, i.e., has no internal holes, gaps, or pockets. The bulk optic therefore serves as an intraresonator optical medium while still supporting a finesse of 10,000 or more. The superpolished facets may be counterfacing to form a Fabry-Perot cavity. Alternatively, the bulk optic may include forms one or more additional facets off of which light inside the bulk optic undergoes total internal reflection. The monolithic photonic resonator may be mounted in a support structure that minimizes the overall vibration sensitivity of the resonator's resonance frequency.

Monolithic photonic resonator and associated laser frequency stabilization method

A method for rapidly fabricating or repairing a fiber reinforced composite may include the use of a covalent adaptable network polymer (CAN) powder for encapsulating reinforcing fibers or welding to a CAN matrix. The fiber reinforced composite may be formed or repaired by applying CAN powder to reinforcing fibers or to a damaged area of a fiber reinforcing composite and compressing the CAN powder with the reinforcing fibers or the damaged area of the fiber reinforced composite at a relatively low temperature, temperature and processing time to form a CAN matrix. The method may be configured for fabricating a fiber reinforced composite having specific desired material properties by varying the arrangement and materials used.

Rapid fabrication and/or repair of fiber reinforced covalent adaptable network composites

The present disclosure provides a high-performance integrated strain sensing device that is highly stretchable, rehealable, recyclable and reconfigurable. This device can include dynamic covalent thermoset polyimine as the substrate and encapsulation, eutectic liquid metal alloy as the strain sensing unit and interconnects, and off-the-shelf chip components for measuring and magnifying functions. The device can be attached on the knee, elbow, wrist and finger joints for strain sensing and motion monitoring, and can also be attached on the abdomen to accurately measure respiration cycles.

Stretchable, rehealable, recyclable and reconfigurable integrated strain sensor

In one aspect, the invention provides a healable, recyclable and malleable e-skin. In certain embodiments, the e-skin comprises sensors that can detect at least one applied stimulus. In other embodiments, the e-skin comprises a dynamic covalent thermo set doped with a nano-particle composition, thereby rendering the doped thermoset conductive. The e-skin of the invention has potential applicability to the fields of robotics, prosthetics, health monitoring, biomedical devices and consumer products.

Covalently cross-linked malleable polymers and methods of use

The invention relates to highly active and selective catalysts for alkyne metathesis. In one aspect, the invention includes a multidentate organic ligand wherein one substrate-binding site of the metal center is blocked. In another aspect, the invention includes N-quaternized or silane-based multidentate organic ligands, capable of binding to metals. In yet another aspect, the invention includes N-quaternized or silane-based multidentate catalysts. The catalysts of the invention show high robustness, strong resistance to small alkyne polymerization and significantly enhanced catalytic activity compared to their corresponding non-quaternized or non-silane-based multidentate catalyst analogs.
