The invention relates to a blood treatment device having an extracorporeal blood circuit which comprises an arterial line, a blood pump, a blood treatment unit and a venous line, wherein the arterial and venous lines can be connected to a blood vessel of a patient, and wherein the blood treatment device has an evaluation and control unit, wherein the evaluation and control unit is configured to carry out the following steps: (a1) determining the blood recirculation in a blood vessel of the patient connected to the extracorporeal blood circuit; and (b) calculating the blood flow in the blood vessel using the blood recirculation determined in accordance with (a1) and using a provided value or a value likewise previously determined for the cardiac output of the patient.

In particularly preferred embodiments, the characteristic variable is represented as a trend and serves the physician as a basis for long-term monitoring of the arterial vascular stiffness.

An assembly includes at least two medical treatment units, each of which can be allocated to a patient and at least two peripheral devices, each of which can be allocated to a patient. The device comprises a computing and evaluation unit configured such that a correction factor is ascertained for the influence of the blood flow rate on the determination of the concentration of the blood constituent. The concentration of the blood constituent is then determined based on a relationship describing the dependence of the concentration of the blood constituent on the intensity of the decoupled electromagnetic radiation, taking account of the correction factor.

A device and method for monitoring an access to a patient for an extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus with an extracorporeal blood circuit are described, as well as an extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus with a device for monitoring the vascular access. The device and method are based on the monitoring of a characteristic property of the blood, in particular the concentration of haemoglobin in the blood flowing in the arterial blood line of extracorporeal blood circuit I of an extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus A. In the event of an incorrect vascular access, the flow conditions change in the communicating intra- and extracorporeal blood circulation system. These changes in the flow conditions can be detected as a change in the haemoglobin concentration. A disconnection of venous puncture cannula for the patient access is ascertained by a reduction in the haemoglobin concentration in the blood in arterial blood line.

The invention relates to a method for monitoring the supply of substitution liquid during an extracorporeal blood treatment and to an extracorporeal blood treatment unit equipped with a device for monitoring the supply of substitution liquid. The monitoring of the supply of substitution liquid is based on the measurement of pressure waves, which are generated by the substitution liquid pump, in the extracorporeal blood circulation system. A disturbance in the supply of substitution liquid is inferred when the amplitude of the pressure waves exceeds a predetermined limit value. The amplitude of the pressure waves is preferably monitored in the venous blood line.
