A vehicle communication system boarded on a vehicle, comprises a main processor, a Controller Area Network (CAN) controller, and a bi-directional firewall module. The main processor is configured to send one or more CAN messages to the CAN controller and the CAN controller is configured to forward the CAN messages to a CAN through the bi-directional firewall module. The bi-directional firewall module further includes a vehicle status logger, a CAN message filter and a storage module, and the vehicle status logger is configured to check the vehicle's status by collecting diagnostic parameters from ECUs, the storage module is configured to store a white-list and a black-list, and the CAN message filter is configured to selectively choose one of the white-list and the black-list according to different statuses of the vehicle and apply the one of the white-list and the black-list to the CAN messages.

Vehicle communication system based on controller-area network bus firewall

The present application discloses method and system for detecting potential security attacks against a vehicle networking through an OBD-II port. The system establishes an inbound OBD-II CAN message whitelist and an outbound OBD-II CAN message blacklist, respectively. Upon receipt of a CAN message command, the system updates statistics for the command and determines whether the command is inbound or outbound. In response to an inbound command from a device external to the vehicle, the system compares the inbound command with the whitelist and forwards the inbound CAN message command to the vehicle via the vehicle's OBD-II port when inbound command appears in the whitelist. In response to an outbound CAN message command from the vehicle, the system compares the outbound command with the blacklist and prevents the outbound command from being sent to an external vehicle via the vehicle's OBD-II port when the outbound command appears in the blacklist.

System and method for detecting OBD-II CAN BUS message attacks

Mitigation for combating malicious codes is delivered to particular endpoint computers. A first malicious code pattern is received in a first computer over a computer network. The first computer is scanned using the first malicious code pattern, with the result of the scanning forwarded to a second computer. The first computer is identified as having a file scanned using the first malicious code pattern. In response, the first computer is provided a second malicious code pattern. The first computer is scanned for malicious codes using the second malicious code pattern.

Methods and apparatus for providing mitigations to particular computers

One embodiment relates to an apparatus configured to efficiently group a set of strings into clusters of related strings. Data storage is configured to store computer-readable code and data, and a processor is configured to access the data storage and to execute said computer-readable code. Computer-readable code is configured to receive the set of strings, determine an evaluation function between pairs of strings in said set, and group the strings into clusters, wherein determining the evaluation function between pairs of strings utilizes hash tables. Another embodiment relates to a computer-implemented method of efficiently grouping a set of strings into clusters of related strings based on rules of inference. Other embodiments and features are also disclosed.

Apparatus and methods for scalable object clustering

An antivirus agent located on a user computer, local area network or standalone hardware device includes a statistical module, a control unit, a timeslot generator and a dispatcher. The statistical module calculates statistics for incoming request packets including the burstiness degree H. A number of normal distributions are predefined. A number of probability sequences are predefined. An input statistic is used to select one of the probability sequences. This probability sequence is used to select a timer value from the distributions. Packets are loaded into a variable-length buffer in the dispatcher to form the timer expires or when the buffer is full. The rate of the output traffic from the dispatcher depends upon a selected distribution value by the timeslot generator and not by any manufactured timing by an attacker. Output traffic frequency is shaped by the dispatcher; packets may go out faster or slower, thus thwarting an attacker who relies upon their own inserted packet timing.
