A Rugged portable device comprises: a base, a cover pivotally connected to the base, a first antenna unit, a second antenna unit, and a control unit. The first antenna unit and the second antenna unit are respectively disposed at an edge of the cover and an edge of the base, and the first antenna unit and the second antenna unit respectively have a near-field antenna and a far-field antenna. When the cover pivots relative to the base and is close to the base, the near-field antenna disposed at the cover and the near-field antenna disposed at the base generate a near-field communication (NFC) sensing signal and the near-field communication sensing signal is transmitted to the control unit. Therefore, the control unit sets up one of functions in the rugged portable device. For instance, the control unit switches off and/or switches on the far-field antenna or a peripheral unit (a keyboard or a camera).

Rugged portable device

A grouping method for a sensing device is provided. The sensing device includes a sensor, a processor, storage and a communication device controlled by the processor. The method includes: inquiring the sensing device's sensing function, supported network types; exchanging the inquired information with other sensing devices having a same sensing function and in networks of same supported network types; forming a function group based on a pre-defined first rule, and exchanging first configuration parameters within the function group; designating one of the sensing devices of the group a master sensing device, and rest of the group slave sensing device(s) based on the exchanged first configuration parameters and a pre-defined second rule; and controlling the master sensing device's the communication device to receive operation parameters and commands from a device outside the function group and relaying the operation parameters and commands to the rest of the function group.

Sensing device and grouping method

An input module is mounted on a portable electronic device and has a sensing substrate and a cover lens mounted on a top surface of the sensing substrate, a physical switch mounted on and electrically connected to a bottom surface of the sensing substrate, and a flexible bridging board having two opposite short sides respectively protruding from two short sides of the sensing substrate for the two short sides of the flexible bridging board to be mounted on the electronic device. As the two short sides of the input module are mounted on the electronic device and a lever arm between a pressed point to a fixed point of the input module is shortened, a torque applied to the input module is lowered and the input module is not easily deformed.

The present invention provides a touch pad operable with multi-objects and a method of operating such a touch pad. The touch pad includes a touch structure for sensing touch points of a first and a second object and a controller for generating corresponding touching signals and related position coordinates. Moreover, the controller calculates at least two movement amount indexes according to coordinate differences between these position coordinates, thereby generating a movement amount control signal to control behaviors of a software object.

A capacitive touch device capable of distinguishing conductor and nonconductor includes a flexible sensor layer receiving a first driving signal, an elastic insulation layer below the flexible sensor layer, and an electrically conductive layer below the elastic insulation layer and receiving a second driving signal synchronous but out of phase to the first driving signal. The flexible sensor layer generates a capacitance variation responsive to an object touching thereon, for identifying the object as a conductor or a nonconductor.
