An electrical connector is provided for use in a board-to-board electrical connector assembly and includes a dielectric housing for mounting on a first printed circuit board and having a receptacle for receiving a plug portion of a mating connector mounted on a second printed circuit board. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted on the housing, and each terminal includes a contact arm extending into the receptacle. The contact arm has first and second contact portions projecting into the receptacle at different angles for engaging a terminal of the mating connector.

Board-to-board connector with improved terminal contacts

A memory card connector includes an insulative housing having a terminal-mounting section which mounts a plurality of conductive terminals having contact portions for engaging appropriate contacts on a memory card. The housing at least in part defines a card-receiving cavity for receiving the memory card. A card eject mechanism includes a slider movably mounted on the housing. The slider is engageable with the memory card for movement therewith into and out of the cavity. The card eject mechanism includes an ejection spring to bias the slider and memory card in an ejection direction. The slider has an elongated guide slot between a pair of opposite parallel side walls extending longitudinally in the direction of movement of the slider. A shielding metal shell is mounted on the housing and includes an elongated guide tab projecting into the guide slot. The guide tab has opposite longitudinal planar surfaces opposing the side walls of the slot.

Memory card connector

A receptacle connector assembly for an electronic memory card provides and maintains a well-grounded connection between cover plates of the memory card via resilient contacts of a ground contact of the receptacle connector assembly. A memory card includes two conductive cover plates sandwiching the receptacle connector assembly. The receptacle connector assembly comprises an insulative housing formed with two rows of terminal receiving cavities for receiving signal and ground terminals. A distal terminal receiving cavity includes first and second partitions defining first and second ground terminal receiving cavities for receiving first and second ground terminals, and an insertion slot for receiving a ground element. The first and second partitions are formed with a cutout. A ground element positioned in the insertion slot includes a body, two wings extending from opposite ends of the body, and resilient contacts extending from the body inwardly of the wings. The wings make contact with the cover plates and the resilient contacts contact the first and second ground terminals via the cutouts to common the cover plates and ensure that the cover plates are at a common electrical potential despite any fluctuations in manufacturing or assembly tolerances.

Receptacle connector assembly for electronic memory card

An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having differently configured receptacles and differently configured terminal supports projecting forwardly in the receptacles. A conductive shell surrounds a substantial portion of the housing and includes openings in registry with the receptacles. The shell has different arrays of grounding spring fingers projecting into the receptacles from edges of the openings. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing, with contact portions in different arrays on selective sides of the terminal supports.

Multi-receptacle electrical connector

An IC card kit adapted for receiving a circuit board assembly, which assembly includes a generally planar circuit substrate with an electrical circuit and electrical components mounted on a surface thereof. The electrical circuit includes a ground circuit. The kit includes a frame adapted for receiving the circuit board assembly, a receptacle connector for mounting at the edge of the assembly, a pair of cover panels for sandwiching the frame and circuit board assembly, and a conductive grounding clip on the frame for engaging the ground circuit of the circuit board assembly. The clip includes a spring arm for preassembling the circuit board assembly to the frame.

Grounding clip for IC cards

A locking system is provided for an electrical connector assembly which includes first and second electrical connectors. The first connector includes a housing having a mating face and a latching surface facing in a direction generally opposite the mating face. The second connector includes a housing having a complementary mating face for interfacing with the mating face of the first connector and a metal spring latch arm cantilevered from the second connector, with a hook portion for latchingly engaging the latching surface of the first connector. The latch arm is located for manual deflection to move the hook portion out of engagement with the latching surface to allow unmating of the connectors with minimal force. The hook portion is radiused therefore deflecting the latch arm in response to an unmating force applied directly to the connectors, i.e. without manual deflection of the latch arm, that is greater than the minimal force.
