A system and method for selecting a battery pack of a plurality of battery packs being wirelessly charged. The system includes a wireless charger having a power supply and a plurality of charging coils, each charging coil coupled to the power supply and configured to wirelessly charge a battery pack of the plurality of battery packs using power received via the power supply. The wireless charger communicates with each battery pack to receive battery information. The system further includes an optimal battery selection device configured to detect a battery pack request; select an optimal battery pack of the plurality of battery packs based on a battery pack request and battery information; and provide a notification indicative of the optimal battery pack selected.

System and method for identifying a wirelessly charging battery

A method and device for wireless power transfer. The device includes a first sensor, a second sensor, and an electronic controller. The method includes determining, by the electronic controller, whether the first sensor senses a magnetic field. The method further includes determining, by the electronic controller, whether the second sensor senses the magnetic field. Apparatus and method for full-orientation over-the-air charging in portable electronic devices

A system and method to detect the presence of a portable communication device in a vehicle. In one exemplary embodiment, the method includes detecting, with an electronic processor of the portable communication device, that the portable communication device is receiving wireless power from a wireless charger located in the vehicle. The method further includes establishing a short-range wireless connection between the portable communication device and a vehicle control head. The method further includes sending a message from the portable communication device to the vehicle control head to transfer control of the portable communication device to the vehicle control head.
