An interventional instrument () is inserted into a patient () to perform an interventional medical procedure guided by a medical imaging device (). A trigger control () is activated. An electronic data processing device () is programmed to operate the medical imaging device to: acquire and display video () of the interventional instrument () inserted into the patient; detect activation of the trigger control; in response to the detecting, process a video segment () of the acquired video to identify a trigger image () as a frame of the video segment capturing a medical intervention event performed by the interventional instrument and a location () of the medical intervention event in the identified trigger image; and display a still image of the identified trigger image with a superimposed marker () indicating the identified location of the medical intervention event.

Workflow of needle tip identification for biopsy documentation

An imaging system () includes a plurality of coil channel receivers () and one or more processors or modules (). The plurality of coil channel receivers () demodulate magnetic resonance data from a multi-channel coil () which includes a plurality of coil elements () spatially separated, each element transmitting magnetic resonance data on a corresponding channel (). The one or more processors or modules () are configured to detect () artifacts in the magnetic resonance data on each channel individually. The one or more processors or modules () are further configured to select () the magnetic resonance data from the channels which include detected artifacts at or below a threshold artifact level and reconstruct () one or more images using the selected magnetic resonance data.

Channel by channel artifact reduction in parallel MRI

Magnetic resonance (MR) calibration data are acquired using a plurality of radio frequency receive coils, and both coil sensitivity maps and reference projection vectors are generated based on the MR calibration data. During imaging, extra navigator projection vectors are acquired, or part of the imaging data can be used as navigator projection vectors. Partially parallel imaging (PPI) can performed to enhance the navigation information. The navigator projection vectors and the reference projection vectors are sensitivity weighted using the coil sensitivity maps to generate navigator sensitivity weighted projection vectors (navigator SWPV) and reference sensitivity weighted projection vectors (reference SWPV) respectively, and these are compared to generate subject position information. The subject motions are compensated prospectively or retrospectively using the generated subject position information. The motion compensation may be prospective, performed by adjusting an imaging volume of the PPI based on the subject position information.

Parallel MRI method using calibration scan, coil sensitivity maps and navigators for rigid motion compensation

A magnetic resonance scanner () includes a main magnet (), gradient coils () and a gradient coil controller (), one or more RF coils (), an RF transmitter (), an RF receiver (), and one or more processors (). The main magnet () generates a Bfield. The gradient coils () and a gradient coil controller () generate gradients across the Bo field. The one or more RF coils () transmit Bpulses and receive magnetic resonance signals. The RF transmitter () transmits Bpulses to the RF coils to excite and manipulate resonance. The RF receiver () demodulates received resonance signals into data lines. The one or more processors () are connected to the gradient coil controller (), the RF transmitter (), and the RF receiver () and are programmed to control () the RF transmitter and the gradient coil controller to implement an interleaved multi-slice 2D imaging sequence which in each of a plurality of TRs generates a first and second navigation data lines and at least one image data line for each of a plurality of slices. The one or more processors are further programmed to reconstruct () the first navigation data lines from the plurality of slices into a first navigation projection image, reconstruct () the second navigation data lines from the plurality of slices into a second navigation image; and compare () successive navigation projection images to detect and adjust () for 3D motion.

Through-plane navigator

A motion-corrected magnetic resonance imaging method comprises: sequentially acquiring a plurality of interleaved magnetic resonance radial acquisition datasets using a magnetic resonance scanner; reconstructing each magnetic resonance radial acquisition dataset into a corresponding image to generate a set of images, the reconstructing including expanding radial k-space lines of the magnetic resonance radial acquisition dataset into corresponding radial bands in k-space using a generalized auto-calibrating partially parallel acquisition (GRAPPA) operator; selecting a reference image from the set of images; performing three-dimensional spatial registration of each image of the set of images except the reference image with respect to the reference image to generate a spatially registered set of images; and combining the spatially registered set of images to generate a motion corrected image.

MRI method for retrospective motion correction with interleaved radial acquisition

A magnetic resonance system includes a magnetic resonance scanner () and a magnetic resonance scan controller (). A plurality of markers () are attached to the subject to monitor motion of a portion of a subject within an examination region. A motion control unit receives motion data from the markers indicative of the motion and controls the magnetic scan controller to adjust scan parameters to compensate for the motion. In one embodiment, the marker () includes a substance () which resonates at a characteristic frequency in response to radio excitations by the magnetic resonance scanner. A controller () switches an inductive circuit () disposed adjacent the substance between a tuned state and a detuned state.

Wireless prospective motion marker

An imaging method comprises acquiring an undersampled magnetic resonance partially parallel imaging (MR-PPI) dataset using a plurality of radio frequency receive coils and reconstructing the undersampled MR-PPI dataset to generate a reconstructed magnetic resonance (MR) image. The reconstructing includes: (i) using a generalized auto-calibrating partially parallel acquisition (GRAPPA) operator or direct convolution to fill in at least some missing data of the undersampled MR-PPI dataset so as to generate an enhanced dataset; and (ii) using an algorithm other than a GRAPPA operator and other than direct convolution to reconstruct the enhanced dataset or to reconstruct the undersampled MR-PPI dataset using the enhanced dataset as an initialization dataset for an iterative reconstruction algorithm. In some embodiments the MR-PPI dataset is a non-Cartesian dataset and a GRAPPA operator for wider radial bands (GROWL) is used in the operation (i).

Rapid parallel reconstruction for arbitrary k-space trajectories

A medical apparatus () includes a magnetic resonance imaging system (). The medical apparatus further includes a memory () containing instructions () for execution by a processor (). Execution of the instructions causes the processor to acquire () baseline magnetic resonance data () and reconstruct () a first image () using the baseline magnetic resonance data. Execution of the instructions further causes the processor acquire () undersampled magnetic resonance data (), which is undersampled in k- space in comparison to the baseline magnetic resonance data. Execution of the instructions further causes the processor reconstruct () a second image () using the undersampled magnetic resonance data and the first image. The second image is reconstructed using an image ratio constrained reconstruction algorithm (). A temperature map () is calculated () using the second image.
