An overdrive apparatus applied to a display system is provided. The overdrive apparatus includes an indication unit, an access circuit and a plurality of memories. The indication unit provides an indication signal corresponding to a scan line of an image frame. The access unit reads a first overdrive table from a first memory among the memories, and loads a second overdrive table to a second memory among the memories according to the indication signal. The first overdrive table and the second overdrive table respectively correspond to a first region and a second region of the image frame.

Overdrive apparatus and associated method for display system

A filter for a video stream is provided. The filter generates a filtered picture according to a current picture and its previous picture. A motion difference calculator accumulates differences between current picture values and previous picture values within a neighborhood of each pixel to provide a corresponding motion difference. A histogram counter performs histogram counting according to motion differences of the pixels. A filter value calculator provides a filter value for each pixel according to operations of the motion difference calculator and the histogram counter. A blender blends the current picture value and the previous picture value of each pixel according to weightings correlated to the filter value, and provides a filtered picture value for each pixel of the filtered picture.

The present invention relates to a device and a method for controlling a liquid crystal display. The device comprises a luminance weighting value processor, an overdrive value generator, and an outputting unit. The luminance weighting value processor generates a weighting value according to a luminance value of a current pixel of a current frame of a video signal and a luminance value of a previous pixel of a previous frame of the video signal. The overdrive value generator generates an overdrive value according to a current pixel value of the current pixel and a previous pixel value of the previous pixel. The outputting unit generates an output pixel value according to the weighting value, the overdrive value and the current pixel value. Using the device and the method for driving a liquid crystal display according to the present invention, noise due to overdrive process can be reduced.

An image processing method includes receiving an image data including a first pixel, a second pixel and a third pixel, the second pixel being between the first pixel and the third pixel; calculating a difference between two initial chrominance values of the first pixel and two initial chrominance values of the second pixel to determine a first difference, and calculating a difference between the two initial chrominance values of the second pixel and two initial chrominance values of the third pixel to determine a second difference; comparing the first difference with the second difference to select either the first pixel or the third pixel as a target pixel; and determining two adjusted chrominance values of the second pixel according to at least two initial chrominance values of the target pixel.

The present invention provides a noise reduction method and apparatus for use in reducing noise of a digital image. The noise reduction apparatus comprises a threshold value generating unit, a determining unit, and an adjusting unit. The threshold value generating unit generates a noise threshold value according to a target window and a first chrominance value and a second chrominance value of an input pixel of the image. The determining unit determines whether the input pixel needs to be adjusted according to the noise threshold value and pixel values of neighboring pixels of the input pixel. The adjusting unit adjusts the pixel value of the input pixel when the input pixel is determined as needing to be adjusted. Using the noise reduction apparatus of the present invention, not only noise of a digital image can be identified, but also the degradation caused by the noise can be reduced and thus the overall picture quality can be improved.

An image processing apparatus comprises an image decoding unit and a static noise reducing unit. The image decoding unit decodes a data stream and generates a plurality of image comprising a current image. The device comprises a color analyzer, a color sharpness setting unit, a computing circuit, and a luminance adjusting unit. A blending factor is determined according to a flatness of the image. The present invention provides a hue control system for adjusting a hue of a specified color. The system includes a hue determining circuit and a hue adjusting circuit. The present invention provides a noise reduction method for use in reducing noise of a digital image, the method comprising steps of: providing a plurality of luminance threshold values; determining a plurality of luminance feature values according to the luminance value of a target pixel and the luminance values of neighboring pixels of the target pixel; determining whether the target pixel is a noise point based on the comparison between each of the luminance feature values and each of the luminance threshold values corresponding thereto, respectively; and adjusting the luminance value, a first chrominance value and a second chrominance value of the target pixel if the target pixel is determined as a noise point. Using the noise reduction method of the present invention, not only noise of a digital image can be identified, but also the degradation caused by the noise can be reduced and thus the overall picture quality can be improved.
