A wireless communication device includes a processor, a baseband signal processing circuit and a wireless transceiver circuit. The processor determines a transmission need, determines a transmission rate according to the transmission need and a channel condition, and provides data and information regarding the transmission rate to the baseband signal processing circuit. The information regarding the transmission rate includes at least one of a selected transmission standard, a selected physical layer data transmission rate and a selected modulation and coding scheme. The baseband signal processing circuit is coupled to the processor and processes the data according to the information regarding the transmission rate to accordingly generate a packet. The wireless transceiver circuit is coupled to the baseband signal processing circuit and transmits the packet.

Wireless communication device and method for determining data transmission rate

A wireless communication device is provided. The wireless communication device includes a circuit board, an antenna module, a housing and a metal pattern unit. The antenna module is coupled to the circuit board, wherein the antenna module transmits a wireless signal, the antenna module defines a first FOV area and a second FOV area, and the first FOV area differs from the second FOV area. The housing covers the antenna module, wherein a lid portion of the housing corresponds to the first FOV area, and the lid portion has a first equivalent dielectric constant. The metal pattern unit corresponds to the second FOV area, the metal pattern unit causes a second equivalent dielectric constant, and the first equivalent dielectric constant differs from the second equivalent dielectric constant.

The invention provides an antenna subsystem with improved radiation performances. The antenna subsystem may comprise an antenna-in-module (AiM), an auxiliary structure being conductive, and a support structure being nonconductive and disposed between the AiM and the auxiliary structure. The AiM may comprise a base, and one or more radiators being conductive. The antenna subsystem may provide a spherical coverage by a combination of a first component of gain and a second component of gain. The auxiliary structure may be insulated from the one or more radiators, and may be configured for orienting a radiation pattern of the first component of gain and a radiation pattern of the second component of gain to two different directions respectively; and/or, causing the spherical coverage provided by the antenna subsystem to be broader than a spherical coverage provided by the AiM alone.

The invention provides method and apparatus augmenting functionality of an antenna-in-module (AiM) of a user equipment (UE) to proximity detection (and more) besides wireless communication. The AiM may comprise a radiator set and a channel circuit set. The radiator set may comprise one or more radiators, and the channel circuit set may comprise one or more channel circuits. The method may comprise: causing a first subset of the channel circuit set to transmit outgoing electromagnetic (EM) waves by circular polarization of a first rotation sense, causing a second subset of the channel circuit set to receive incoming EM waves by circular polarization of a second rotation sense different from the first rotation sense, accordingly obtaining one or more received detection signals, and executing the proximity detection according to the one or more received detection signals.

Method and apparatus augmenting functionality of antenna-in-module of user equipment to proximity detection besides wireless communication

A wireless communication method for optimizing uplink transmission from a communication partner to a wireless communication device includes the following steps: after receiving an uplink performance estimation, determining uplink adjustment information including resource unit allocation and a target received signal strength indicator according to the uplink performance estimation; generating a target channel quality indicator (CQI) according to previous uplink sounding information and the uplink adjustment information, wherein the previous uplink sounding information indicates the characteristics of the uplink transmission; determining uplink transmission setting including a modulation and coding scheme and dual carrier modulation according to the target CQI and the type of an error correction technique and transmitting a control signal to a communication partner according to the uplink transmission setting; and updating the uplink performance estimation according to a reception signal from the communication partner, wherein the characteristic of the reception signal is affected by the uplink transmission setting.

A method used for controlling a wireless communication system includes receiving a packet, demodulating the packet to obtain a first channel characteristic index and a second channel characteristic index of the wireless communication system, selecting a length of a guard interval according to the first channel characteristic index, and selecting a length of a long training field according to the second channel characteristic index. When signal quality corresponding to the packet is higher, the length of the guard interval is shorter, and the length of the long training field is shorter.

A wireless communication system includes a transceiver circuit, a memory circuit, and a processor circuit. The transceiver circuit transmits data through subchannels that includes a first subchannel and a second subchannel. The memory circuit stores a lookup table that indicates corresponding relations between transmission rates and channel indicators. The processor circuit selects a first channel indicator from the lookup table according to a first transmission rate of the first subchannel during a statistics interval, determines a difference between the first channel estimated value of the first subchannel and a second channel estimated value of the second subchannel, determines a reference channel indicator according to the difference and the first channel indicator, and selects a corresponding transmission rate from the lookup table according to the reference channel indicator, in order to set a transmission rate of the transceiver circuit over the second subchannel to be the corresponding transmission rate.

A wireless communication device for a transmission end of a wireless communication system is provided. The wireless communication device includes a wireless analog transmission unit, for transmitting a data packet on a data transmission channel; and a packet generating unit, for generating the data packet and at least one protection packet; wherein before transmitting the data packet on the data transmission channel, the wireless communication device transmits the at least one protection packet on at least one adjacent channel of the data transmission channel to indicate to at least one user of the at least one adjacent channel to stop using the at least one adjacent channel before transmission of the data packet is completed, and at least one frequency band of the at least one adjacent channel overlaps a frequency band of the data transmission channel.

A communication device includes a radio transceiver and a collision detection device. The radio transceiver is configured to receive a wireless signal which includes an acknowledgment packet from a wireless communication channel. The acknowledgment packet includes acknowledgment information which corresponds to a plurality of transmitted packets. The collision detection device is coupled to the radio transceiver and configured to receive the acknowledgment packet, determine whether collision has occurred in the wireless communication channel according to the acknowledgment information corresponding to the transmitted packets and accordingly generate a detection result. The collision detection device determines whether collision has occurred according to a distribution of the acknowledgment information having a predetermined acknowledgment status. When the collision detection device determines that the acknowledgment information having the predetermined acknowledgment status is concentrated in a section of the acknowledgment packet, the detection result indicates that collision has occurred.

A communication device includes a packet detection circuit, a decoding circuit and a threshold decision circuit. The packet detection circuit is arranged to perform packet detection according to at least one threshold to determine whether a packet is included in a received signal.
