A method for manufacturing a light-emitting device, comprises steps of: providing an as-cut wafer having an irregularly uneven surface comprising surface roughness greater than 0.5 &#x3bc;m; and forming a light-emitting stack on the irregularly uneven surface of the as-cut wafer by an epitaxial growth method, and the light-emitting stack comprises an upper surface having surface roughness less than 0.2 nm; wherein there is no patterning or roughing process after the step of providing the as-cut wafer and before the step of forming the light-emitting stack on the irregularly uneven surface of the as-cut wafer.

Light-emitting device manufacturing method

A moving device and a moving control method thereof are provided. The moving control method comprises the following steps. Firstly, a first magnetic field and a second magnetic field are sensed by a moving device within a moving region. A first magnetic stripe generating the first magnetic field is arranged along an outer border of the moving region, and a second magnetic stripe generating the second magnetic field is arranged along an inner border of the moving region. Then, a motion mode is determined and a corresponding motion is performed by the moving device according to an order in which the first magnetic field and the second magnetic field are sensed.

Moving device and moving control method thereof

A distance measurement apparatus and a distance measurement method are provided. The apparatus includes a line-shaped laser transmitter, an image sensing device and a processing unit. The line-shaped laser transmitter transmits a line-shaped laser, and the image sensing device senses the line-shaped laser to output a line-shaped laser image. The processing unit receives the line-shaped laser image, and segments the line-shaped laser image into several sub-line-shaped laser images. The processing unit further calculates a vertical position for a laser line in each sub-line-shaped laser image, and outputs each distance information according to the corresponding sub-line-shaped laser image and a transformation relation.

Distance measurement apparatus and method

A mapping method is provided. The environment is scanned to obtain depth information of environmental obstacles. The image of the environment is captured to generate an image plane. The depth information of environmental obstacles is projected onto the image plane, so as to obtain projection positions. At least one feature vector is calculated from a predetermined range around each projection position. The environmental obstacle depth information and the environmental feature vector are merged to generate a sub-map at a certain time point. Sub-maps at all time points are combined to generate a map. In addition, a localization method using the map is also provided.

Method and device of mapping and localization method using the same

A body interactively learning method is disclosed, which comprises the steps of: turning on the power of a body interactively learning apparatus while selecting an operation mode for the same; attaching a motion sensor of the body interactively learning apparatus onto body of a user; using the motion sensor to detect vibrations of the body and consequently sending the detected vibration signals to a processing unit; enabling the processing unit to perform an evaluation for determining whether the vibration signals are valid. With the aforesaid method and apparatus, the user is able to use the valid vibration signals to control a proceeding of an audio/video content that is stored in a data storage unit of the apparatus selected from the group consisting of: playing the audio/video content, pausing the playing of the audio/video content, recording the audio/video content, setting pause points in the audio/video content, searching the pause point of the audio/video content, and changing playing speed of the audio/video content, and responding interactively to the audio/video content. In an exemplary embodiment, the user can either stop the playing of the audio/video content by pressing a stop button of the apparatus or by moving his/her body to generate a specific vibration signal.

Body interactively learning method and apparatus

System and method for graphically allocating robot's working space are provided. The system includes an image extractor, a task-allocating server and a robot. A graphic user interface (GUI) of the task-allocating server includes a robot's working scene area, a space attribute allocating area and a robot's task area. Thus, a user assigns one certain space area in the robot's working scene area with a 'wall' attribute, or another space area with a 'charging station' attribute. Meanwhile, by using the GUI, the user directly assigns the robot to execute a specific task at a certain area. Hence, the user or remote controller facilitates the robot to provide safer and more effective service through his/her environment recognition.

System and method for graphically allocating robot's working space

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for predicting/alarming the moving of hidden objects. The apparatus comprises: a distance sensing unit, for obtaining a distance data detected within a specific sensing range and thus outputting the distance data; a speed sensing unit, for measuring the movement of a carrier to obtain a real-time speed data of the carrier and thus output the speed data; a control unit, for receiving and analyzing the distance data and the speed data to obtain information relating to the position of the carrier, the environment surrounding the carrier and positions of objects moving in the blind spots of the carrier, and thus to perform an evaluation based upon the aforesaid information to determine a danger level for issuing a control signal accordingly; and an alarm unit, for issuing an alarm signal according to the control signal.

Method and apparatus for predicting/alarming the moving of hidden objects

The present invention discloses a coupled waveguide-surface plasmon resonance biosensor, comprising: a grating layer formed of a transparent material, the grating layer comprising a first periodic grating structure; a waveguide layer formed on the first periodic grating structure, the refractive index of the waveguide layer being larger than the refractive index of the grating layer; a plasmon resonance layer formed on the waveguide layer, capable of being optically excited to cause a plasmon resonance wave; and a ligand layer formed on the plasmon resonance layer; capable of being bound to react with receptors of a sample to be tested.

Coupled waveguide-surface plasmon resonance biosensor

An optical waveguide bio-sensing device, comprising: a monochromatic light source, a beam splitter, a grating chip with a sub-wavelength grating structure and a sensor. Moreover, in order to enhance the sensitivity of the system using the optical waveguide bio-sensing device, a light concentrating element or a quarter waveplate (&#xbc;&#x3bb;) is arranged in the optical path during detection. When the grating chip is not coated with a layer of biochemical substance corresponding to a monochrome light emitted from the monochromatic light source, a reflected light of a specific narrow wavelength is reflected by a specific angle as a surface plasmon resonant effect caused by waveguide coupling is excited by the incidence of the monochrome light to the grating chip through the beam splitter; otherwise, there will be little or no reflection. Accordingly, the optical waveguide bio-sensing device can detect bio-molecular interactions, reaction rate and/or molecular dynamics without any labeling in real time. Optical systems using the present invention are simplified and capable of being portable. Thus a high sensitivity detection technique is achieved.

Optical waveguide bio-sensing device

An omni-directional robot cleaner, composed of a platform and a plurality of driving units for driving and controlling the movement of the platform, in which the platform further comprises: a sensing unit, for obstacle detection; a cleaning unit, for collecting and removing dust and dirt; a processing unit, capable of receiving signals transmitted from the sensing unit while planning and mapping a travel path accordingly; and a power unit, for providing power to the omni-directional robot cleaner while managing the same. Moreover, each driving unit of the plural driving units is comprised of an omni-directional wheel and an actuator for driving the corresponding omni-directional wheel to rotate omni-directionally, by which the platform is enabled to move continuously while changing its moving direction simultaneously so as to free the robotic cleaner from the shortcomings of those conventional autonomous cleaner, such as poor maneuverability, poor mobility and insufficient degree-of-freedom regarding to the driving of the cleaner. Therefore, not only the operation mobility of the robotic cleaner is enhanced, but also the moving agility of the same is greatly improved.

Omni-directional robot cleaner

A microimprint/nanoimprint uniform pressing apparatus is used to provide uniform imprinting pressure to a molding material layer between a substrate and a mold. The uniform pressing apparatus includes a uniform pressing unit for being directly in contact with the mold or the substrate, so as to allow each point to have equal pressure during imprinting and utilize a simple structure to transmit uniform imprinting pressure.

Microimprint/nanoimprint uniform pressing apparatus

A microimprint/nanoimprint device includes a mold, a substrate and an energy transferring module. The substrate is disposed oppositely to the mold and at least has a molding material layer. The energy transferring module includes an energy transferring member and at least one energy source, wherein the energy transferring member is connected to the substrate or the mold, and the energy source provides imprint energy to the substrate or the mold, such that at least part of the imprint energy goes through the energy transferring member to the substrate or the mold for performing imprint molding.

Microimprint/nanoimprint device

The present invention relates to a demolding method and device, being used for detaching a mold and a substrate after completing an imprinting process, in which the mold is forced to detach from the substrate partially and form a gap therebetween by inserting at least a blade module between the two, and thus, as air is sucked into the gap and the adhesion force of vacuum effect exerting between the mold and the substrate is eliminated, the blade module is further applied to detach the mold from the substrate completely.

Method and device for demolding

A moving apparatus has a body, and has at least a pair of wheels, a control unit, a direction measuring unit and at least a pair of encoders installed on the body. The direction measuring unit coupled to the control unit measures the direction of the body, and the control unit obtains a first direction variation according to the direction information. The pair of encoders coupled to the control unit measure a speed of the pair of wheels, and the control unit obtains a second direction variation according to information of the speed. The control unit compares the first and second direction variations to determine whether the direction measuring unit is temporarily dysfunction. Based on the result of comparison, the control unit applies the information provided by the direction measuring unit or the pair of encoders to obtain the current direction of the body.

Moving apparatus and method of self-direction testing and self-direction correction thereof

Provided is a closed-loop feedback control positioning stage comprising at least one block formed therein, a plurality of hinge mechanisms for attaching the block in the stage, at least one actuator formed in the block, the actuator adapted to bend for moving the block in at least one direction, and a plurality of strain gauges each attached in a corresponding hinge mechanism for measuring its strain. The invention can repeatedly position the block at the moved location for carrying out a highly precise positioning of the stage.
