Apparatus and methods for lighting. The apparatus may include a first jewel and a second jewel. The first jewel may support the second jewel by a first link. The first jewel may support the second jewel by a second link. The first link and second links may be configured for transmission of current between the first jewel and the second jewel. The first and second links may be the only attachments of the second jewel to the first jewel. The first jewel may be configured to selectively emit three different colors of light. The second jewel may be configured to selectively emit three different colors of light. The second jewel may be configured to selectively emit the three different colors of the first jewel. The selection may be performed by a user using a switch.

Modular articulating lighting

Circuitry to control dimming of a load circuit may be connected between a 0-10 V dimmer that outputs a DC voltage control signal and the load circuit. The circuitry may include a microcontroller that may be programmed to generate a first pulse-width modulated ('PWM') signal having a duty cycle based on the dimming level configured to be set on the dimmer. A voltage conversion circuit may supply the microcontroller with data relating to the set dimming level. The microcontroller may be programmed to synchronize the first PWM signal with the supplied AC power from the main circuit based on a second PWM signal from a voltage detection circuit, such as a zero crossing voltage detection circuit. The first PWM signal may be supplied from the microcontroller to an on/off switch to chop the AC power waveform at certain intervals and thereby dim the load.

0-10 volt dimming for AC-powered LED lights

An electronic ballast for a lighting unit may include a Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit, an inverter, and a control circuit for controlling startup of the inverter, wherein the control circuit is coupled between the PFC circuit and the inverter and includes a switching device coupled in a startup loop for the inverter; a unidirectional conductive device coupled between a PFC power supply circuit for providing an operation current to a PFC controller of the PFC circuit and an input of the PFC controller for preventing a startup current flowing through the PFC circuit from triggering the switching device; and a triggering device coupled to the switching device and a connection point between the unidirectional conductive device and the PFC power supply circuit for controlling switch-on and switch-off of the switching device.

Electronic ballast for lighting unit and lighting apparatus

A detect method is provided for performing step dimming selection in an electronic ballast including an End of Lamp Life detect circuit and a half-bridge inverter, the End of Lamp Life detect circuit being connected to an input terminal of the control circuit, wherein each time when the power switch is turned on, it is judged whether the electronic ballast should enter the dimming mode or not by detecting the voltage at the input terminal of the control circuit before the half-bridge inverter starts operating.

Detect method for step dimming selection

A method of driving regulation for bipolar transistors in electronic ballast is provided. The method may include: sensing voltage at midpoint of half bridge of the transistors; producing a reference time signal according to a sync signal from a timer; producing actual time interval in this cycle by comparing rising edge of the voltage at midpoint of the half bridge of the transistors with rising edge of a driving signal for the transistors in upper bridge arm in each switching cycle; comparing the actual time interval with the reference time signal to determine pulse width of the driving signal; regulating, in which the driving signal in this switching cycle is prolonged relative to the driving signal in previous switching cycle if the actual time interval is larger than the reference time signal, while the driving signal in this switching cycle is shortened relative to the driving signal in previous switching cycle if the actual time interval is smaller than the reference time signal.

Driving regulation method for bipolar transistors in electronic ballast and the device thereof

A method and corresponding electronic ballast circuit for regulating the ignition voltage of a discharge lamp is described. The circuit includes a discharge lamp with an AC operating voltage supplied by a half-bridge inverter circuit comprising two transistors. The method includes detecting the current flowing through one transistor of the two transistors, and comparing the detected current with a predetermined reference value. When the detected current exceeds a predetermined reference value, a driving period of the one transistor is terminated and the driving period of the other transistor of said two transistors is started, and the driving period of said other transistor is made to be the same as the terminated driving period of the one transistor.
