A foldable hinge is described herein that includes a plurality of interconnected sliding links, wherein each of the interconnected sliding links comprise at least one curved extruding prong and at least one curved rail. The at least one curved rail of a first interconnected sliding link can be coupled to the at least one curved extruding prong of a second interconnected sliding link to form a torque engine. Additionally, the interconnected sliding links can be rotatable based on a pressure applied to the interconnected sliding links. The foldable hinge can also include a plurality of shafts coupled to the plurality of interconnected sliding links, wherein each shaft is coupled to a separate interconnected sliding link.

In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a movable light emitting diode (LED) base. A plurality of LED arrays is coupled to the movable LED base. The apparatus includes a grid that includes a plurality of walls. The grid is positioned such that each LED array of the plurality of LED arrays is adjacent to a wall of the plurality of walls.

Examples of hinge assemblies are described. In an example implementation, a hinge assembly includes hinge elements which are interconnected to move the hinge assembly between a folded position and an unfolded position. The hinge assembly further includes elastic members disposed between the hinge elements at a first side and a second side thereof. When the hinge assembly is moved from the unfolded position towards the folded position, elastic members at the first side are decompressed and elastic members at the second side are stretched. When the hinge assembly is moved from the folded position towards the unfolded position, elastic members at the first side are compressed and the elastic members at the second side are destretched.

A system may include a fingerprint scanner and a magnetic switch coupled to the fingerprint scanner. The magnetic switch may couple a lid of a computing device to abase of a computing device. The system may further include an infrared (IR) scanner coupled to the magnetic switch. Additionally, the system may include an electronic switch coupled to the IR scanner.

In one example, a hinge assembly is disclosed, which may include a band torque engine having at least one bearing portion and a vertical torque engine coupled to the band torque engine. The vertical torque engine may have an opening. The hinge assembly may include a first shaft received through the at least one bearing portion and the opening. The first shaft may be rotatable along an axis with respect to the band torque engine and the vertical torque engine. The hinge assembly may include a display bracket including an adaptor portion to hold the first shaft such that the first shaft rotates along with the display bracket. The band torque engine may provide a frictional torque and the vertical torque engine may compressively engage with the first shaft to provide a vertical frictional torque during rotation of the display bracket.

In some examples, a pixel comprises a plurality of subpixels, wherein each subpixel includes a micro-motor, a rotatable substrate in which the micro-motor is embedded, and a plurality of micro-light emitting diodes (LEDs) embedded in the rotatable substrate.

A dual-axis hinge assembly may include a casing defining a first slot and a second slot. Further, the dual-axis hinge assembly may include a first shaft and a second shaft received through the first and second slots, respectively. The first shaft and the second shaft may engage with a first housing and a second housing of an electronic device. Furthermore, dual-axis hinge assembly may include a foldable linkage disposed in the casing and connected between the first shaft and the second shaft. Furthermore, dual-axis hinge assembly may include an elastic member connected to the foldable linkage. The foldable linkage and the elastic member may enable the first shaft and the second shaft to slide along the first slot and the second slot to variably adjust a distance between a pivot axis of the first housing and a pivot axis of the second housing.

In an example, a device includes a base unit, a cover unit, and a hinge assembly to couple the cover unit to the base unit The hinge assembly is moveable between a folded position and an unfolded position. The hinge assembly includes a channel, an annular holder disposed in the channel, a shaft engaged with the annular holder, and a hydraulic cylinder coupled to the shaft. The hydraulic cylinder is to move the shaft along a longitudinal axis of the shaft, based on a movement of the hinge assembly between the folded position and the unfolded position, to vary an operating torque of the hinge assembly.

In an example, a hinge assembly includes a first hinge element having a first shaft, a second hinge element having a second shaft, and a clip coupling the first shaft to the second shaft. The clip includes a first portion formed of c a composite material and a second portion formed of a metal.

In one example, a hinge assembly is disclosed, which may include a first bracket, a second bracket, and a shaft to pivotally connect the first bracket and the second bracket. The shaft may have a composite neck portion. The composite neck portion may include a metal portion and a non-metallic washer fixedly attached to the metal portion.

Examples herein relate to a hinge. In some examples, a hinge can include a first bracket connected to a shaft, a second bracket connected to the first bracket, a member connected to the shaft and magnetically attracted to a magnet at a first position, where the member translates relative to the magnet to a second position as the shaft rotates about an axis of the shaft, and the magnet to generate a magnetic attraction force between the member and the magnet, where the magnetic attraction force is higher at the second position than the first position.

The present subject matter relates to hinge connectors with rotation control units. In an example, a hinge connector may couple a base unit with a cover unit of a device. The hinge connector includes hinge shaft. The rotation control unit is to control the rotation of the hinge shaft and stop a free-rotation of the hinge shaft at a predefined angle with respect to the base unit.

In one example, a hinge assembly is disclosed, which may include a first member and a second member rotatably connected to the first member through a mounting portion. The mounting portion may include a first surface having a first protrusion and a second surface, opposite the first surface, having a second protrusion. Further, the hinge assembly may include a first cam fixed to the first member and disposed adjacent to the first surface and a second cam fixed to the first member and disposed adjacent to the second surface. The first cam and second cam being engageable with the first protrusion and the second protrusion, respectively, to shift an axis of rotation of the second member.

The housing includes a display housing portion, an input housing portion, and an energy absorbing material that is inserted along an edge of the input housing portion.
