A sensor system, including: a dielectric material on a part body; and a sensor on the dielectric material, the sensor configured to provide impedance, capacitance, and resistance values and to alter one or more of the impedance, capacitance and resistance values responsive to a stress applied to the part body. Also disclosed is a method of making and a method of using the sensor system.

A method of forming a high temperature sensor includes preparing a substrate having a surface from an electrically insulative material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), preparing an electrical conductor from a metal material having a second CTE that is different from the first CTE, and creating an interface between the electrical conductor and the substrate with a CTE blending medium that is provided between the substrate and the electrical conductor. The CTE blending medium accommodates differing thermal expansion rates of the substrate and the electrical conductor at temperatures of at least 700&#xb0; C.

Method of forming a high temperature sensor

An aft frame assembly for a gas turbine transition piece includes a main body having an upstream facing surface and a downstream facing surface. A plurality of feed hole inlets are located on the upstream facing surface. The feed hole inlets are coupled to a plurality of cooling channels that pass through the main body towards the downstream facing surface. A plurality of plenums are located in or near the downstream facing surface, and each cooling channel is connected to and terminates in one of the plenums. The cooling channels are inputs to the plenums. A plurality of microchannel cooling slots are formed in or near the downstream facing surface, and each microchannel cooling slot is connected to one of the plenums. The microchannel cooling slots are outputs of the plenums. Two or more cooling channels and two or more microchannel cooling slots are connected to one of the plenums.

A method includes disposing a braze material adjacent a first body and a second body; heating the braze material and forming a transient liquid phase; and transforming the transient liquid phase to a solid phase and forming a bond between the first body and the second body. The braze material includes copper, silver, zinc, magnesium, and at least one material selected from the group consisting of nickel, tin, cobalt, iron, phosphorous, indium, lead, antimony, cadmium, and bismuth.

An aft frame assembly has a main body with an upstream facing surface, a downstream facing surface, a radially outer facing surface and a radially inner facing surface. Feed hole inlets are located on the upstream facing surface and radially outward of the outer sleeve so that the feed hole inlets are located to receive input from a high pressure plenum. The feed hole inlets are coupled to cooling channels that pass through the main body. Microchannels are formed in or near the radially inner facing surface and the downstream facing surface. The cooling channels are connected to and terminate in the microchannels. Exit holes are connected to the plurality of microchannels, and the exit holes are located radially outward of the transition piece and radially inward of the outer sleeve. The exit holes are located to exhaust into the cooling annulus.

An aft frame assembly for a gas turbine transition piece has a main body with an upstream facing surface, a downstream facing surface, a radially outer facing surface and a radially inner facing surface. A plurality of feed hole inlets are located on the upstream facing surface. Each of the feed hole inlets are coupled to one of a plurality of cooling channels passing through the main body towards the radially inner facing surface. A plurality of microchannels are formed near the radially inner facing surface and extend at least partially along the downstream facing surface. The cooling channels are connected to and terminate in the microchannels. A pre-sintered preform is located on the radially inner facing surface of the main body.

A method for separating carbon dioxide (CO) from a gas stream is disclosed, in which the gas stream is reacted with a lean aminosilicone solvent in an absorber, resulting in a rich aminosilicone solvent that is then treated in a desorber to release the COand regenerate lean aminosilicone solvent in a desorption reaction. The regenerated solvent is directed into a steam-producing, indirect heat exchanger that is configured to supply steam to the desorber at a temperature high enough to augment the desorption reaction. Also, selected amounts of make-up water are added to the rich aminosilicone solvent at one or more process locations between the absorber and the desorber, to lower the viscosity of the solvent and to lower the temperature required for the desorption reaction.

Method and system for treatment of a gas stream that contains carbon dioxide

A fuel injector is provided for the radial introduction of a liquid fuel/air mixture to a combustor. The fuel injector includes a body having a frame that defines an inlet portion and an outlet member that defines an outlet portion. A fuel plenum is defined within the outlet member, and a fuel injection port, which communicates with the fuel plenum, is defined through the outlet member. A fuel supply conduit, fixed to the body, communicates between a source of liquid fuel and the fuel injection port, via the fuel plenum. Alternately, the fuel injector may include a swirl-inducing device mounted to the outlet member in communication with the fuel injection port, and a fuel supply conduit fixed to the swirl-inducing device. In this embodiment, the fuel supply conduit communicates between the fuel injection port and a source of a liquid fuel and water mixture, via the swirl-inducing device.

Dual fuel injectors and methods of use in gas turbine combustor

A power generation system includes a power generation plant portion including a feedwater heating system configured to channel a feedwater stream and a carbon dioxide capture portion coupled in flow communication with the power generation plant portion. The carbon dioxide capture portion includes a solvent circuit configured to channel a solvent stream through at least a portion of the carbon dioxide capture portion. The carbon dioxide capture portion also includes a heat recovery system coupled in flow communication with the solvent circuit and the feedwater heating system. The heat recovery system is configured to transfer heat energy from the solvent stream to the feedwater stream and to channel the heated feedwater from the heat recovery system to the feedwater heating system.

Method and apparatus to facilitate heating feedwater in a power generation system

A fuel nozzle system for enabling a gas turbine to start and operate on low-Btu fuel includes a primary tip having primary fuel orifices and a primary fuel passage in fluid communication with the primary fuel orifices, and a fuel circuit capable of controlling flow rates of a first and second low-Btu fuel gases flowing into the fuel nozzle. The system is capable of operating at an ignition status, in which at least the first low-Btu fuel gas is fed to the primary fuel orifices and ignited to start the gas turbine, and a baseload status, in which at least the second low-Btu fuel gas is fired at baseload. The low-Btu fuel gas ignited at the ignition status has a content of the first low-Btu fuel gas higher than that of the low-Btu fuel gas fired at the baseload status. Methods for using the system are also provided.

A method includes disposing a braze material between a first body and a second body. The braze material includes a first composition and a second composition. The second composition has a melting point higher than the first composition. The method also includes heating the braze material to a brazing temperature between the melting points of the first and second materials and maintaining the braze material at the brazing temperature for a period of time to transform a transient liquid phase to a solid phase, forming a bond between the first body and the second body. A braze material for securing solid bodies includes a first composition and a second composition. The first composition includes at least one element selected from the group consisting of indium, tin, zinc, and magnesium. An earth-boring tool includes a first body, a second body, and a braze material bonding the second body to the first body.

An air management arrangement for a late lean injection combustor system includes a combustor liner defining a combustor chamber. Also included is a sleeve surrounding at least a portion of the combustor liner, the combustor liner and the sleeve defining a cooling annulus for routing a cooling airflow from proximate an aft end of the combustor liner toward a forward end of the combustor liner. Further included is a cooling airflow divider region configured to split the cooling airflow into a first cooling airflow portion and a second cooling airflow portion, wherein the first cooling airflow portion is directed to at least one primary air-fuel injector, wherein the second cooling airflow portion is directed to at least one lean-direct injector extending through the sleeve and the cooling annulus for injection of the second cooling airflow portion into the combustor chamber.

Air management arrangement for a late lean injection combustor system and method of routing an airflow

The present application provides a micro-mixer combustion nozzle for mixing a flow of fuel and a flow of air in a gas turbine engine. The micro-mixer combustion nozzle may include a fuel plate with a number of fuel plate apertures and a fuel plate passage in communication with the flow of fuel and an air plate with a number of air plate apertures and an air plate passage in communication with the flow of air. The fuel plate passage and the air plate passage may align to mix in part the flow of fuel and the flow of air.
