The present invention is directed towards the use of substituted chroman-6-ols with extended lipophilic side chains of formula (I) wherein one of the two substituents Rand Ris C-alkyl and the other of the two substituents Rand Ris either hydrogen or C-alkyl or (CH)&#x2014;OH with n being an integer from 1 to 5, and wherein A is CH(R), and wherein R, Rand Rare independently from each other H or C-alkyl, and wherein Ris H or OH or C-alkyl or C-alkoxy; with the proviso that at least two of R, Rand Rare not methyl, when Ris H and one of the substituents Rand Ris methyl and the other of the two substituents Rand Ris C-alkyl, as antioxidants, especially in feed such as pet food and feed ingredients such as fish meal, insect meal and poultry meal, as well as PUFA-containing oil such as marine oil, microbial oil, fungal oil, algal oil and PUFA-containing plant oil. The present invention is further directed towards feed ingredients and feed for insects, aquatic and terrestrial animals comprising such substituted chroman-6-ols with extended lipophilic side chains of formula (I). 

Use of substituted chroman-6-ols with extended lipophilic side chains

The present invention relates to the use of mixtures of vitamin E and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) as agents for the prevention, control and/or treatment of conditions associated with excessive fat accumulation in the liver which is not caused by alcohol abuse. This includes prevention, control and/or treatment of non-alcoholic steatosis in the liver&#x2014;known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)&#x2014;and/or non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in a subject in need thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to the use of such compounds comprising vitamin E acetate and DHA EE as active ingredients in the manufacture of medicaments for the prevention, control and/or treatment of conditions related to NAFLD.

Treatment for non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases

Disclosed are methods of improving the sensory and oxidative stability of oils (e.g., plant and animal oils) by combining an oil and an antioxidant composition comprising green tea extract and deodorizing the oil. Oils prepared by these methods are also disclosed.
