A junction box for electrically connecting insulated conductors of a first cable to corresponding insulated conductors of a second cable, including a terminal housing; a plurality of electrically conductive contacts extending through the terminal housing, each contact of said contacts including first and second insulation displacement contacts (IDCs) opening into respective first and second sides of the terminal housing; and first and second lid members operatively coupled to the terminal housing so that relative movement between the terminal housing and the lid members urges insulated conductors interposed therebetween into corresponding IDCs for electric connection to the contacts, wherein said relative movement electrically connects the insulated conductors of the first cable on the first side of said sides of the terminal housing to corresponding insulated conductors of the second cable on the second side of said sides of the terminal housing via the IDCs of common contacts.

An electrical connector, comprising a connector body having an opening for receiving an electrical cable, a connector element disposed at least partly within the connector body and electrically coupleable to the electrical cable, an insulating shield operably associated with the connector body and movable between a first position, in which an electrical contact portion of the connector element is exposed for direct contact, and a second position, in which the insulating shield covers the electrical contact portion to limit direct contact with the electrical contact portion, and a catch mechanism for retaining the insulating shield in the second position, the catch mechanism having an actuable portion for releasing the insulating shield for movement to the first position.

An electrical connector for making electrical connection to insulated conductors, the connector having a first connector part which has lengthwise extending wire channels for receiving portions of the insulated conductors; insulation displacement contacts for making separate electrical connections to the conductors, when received in the lengthwise extending wire channels, under relative movement between the insulation displacement contacts and the wires, so that the insulation covering the conductors is cut and the insulation displacement contacts make electrical connections to the conductors; transverse wire channels intersecting with said lengthwise extending wire channels and being shaped to receive portions of insulated conductors of another electrical cable from which the outer covering of the cable has been removed; and a second connector part relatively moveable with respect to the first part for effecting said relative movement, wherein the insulation displacement contacts are located at intersections of the transverse wire channels and the lengthwise extending wire channels for electrically connecting conductors seated in the transverse wire channels with respective ones of the conductors seated in the lengthwise extending wire channels during said relative movement, and said insulation displacement contacts form parts of contact elements which form socket contacts of a socket formed on the first part, said socket being adapted to receive and make electrical connection to an electrical plug.

Electrical connector

The invention relates to a connector block () for separating insulated conductors of a first data cable () and a second data cable (), said connector block containing: first and second groups (A,A) of a plurality of slits () arranged in a row along a common side of the connector block; and a plurality of insulation displacement contacts comprising forked contact sections () which at least partially extend into respective individual slits in order to electrically separate the insulated conductors. The groups of slits are separated by an insulation space () in order to reduce alien crosstalk between the conductors of the first data cable (), which are coupled to the insulation displacement contacts of the first group of slits (A), and the conductors of the second data cable (), which are coupled to the insulation displacement contacts of the second group of slits (A).

The invention relates to a connector block for separating a plurality of insulated conductors of an electronic data cable, said connector block containing: a plurality of slits arranged in a row along a common side of the connector block; a plurality of insulation displacement contacts comprising forked contact sections which at least partially extend into respective individual slits in order to electrically separate the insulated conductors; and a cable manager which is coupled to another side of the connector block and extends outwardly therefrom. The cable manager is embodied in such a way as to secure the conductors in substantially fixed positions between one end of the sheath of the data cable and the insulation displacement contacts.
