A system and method for determination the relative location of a mobile object is described that includes building a database of known/expected locations with the exact longitude and latitude for each location. Next, an estimated location for a mobile object is generated using information from the cellular network and an area boundary is defined around the mobile object that defines, with some probability, where the object is actually located. The known locations in the database that fall within the area boundary are then identified and a relative probability is calculated for each known location that indicates its relative likelihood of where the mobile object is actually located. From this information at least the most probable location of the mobile object is determined along with a measure of estimation confidence.

An application interface can support real-time RADIUS accounting notification. The application interface can have integrated RADIUS server accounting A RADIUS server can contain data session accounting messages, for example session start. A real-time feed can be received from the RADIUS server. RADIUS accounting messages received via the feed can be translated into application notification messages. The translated application notification messages can be delivered to registered applications that may reside on an external customer network.

Radius accounting feed distribution and active on-network determination

An application interface can support real-time mobile management notification. The application interface can have integrated Home Location Registry (HLR) mobile management signaling, such as Signal System 7 (SS7). An HLR database can contain mobile management registration messages, for example Update Location or Ready for Short Message (SM). A real-time feed can be received from the HLR database. Mobile management messages received via the feed can translated into application notification messages. The translated application notification messages can be delivered to registered applications that may reside on an external customer network.

Mobile management message distribution and active on-network determination

A system for managing communications between a group of remote machine-to-machine devices and a management platform is described where the remote devices may have disparate communication protocols. An agent gateway sits in the communication path between the remote devices and the management platform and communicates wireless with the remote devices using the native communication protocols of each device. The agent gateway includes a translator function connected to a management information base, wherein the management information base contains information relating to each machine-to-machine device and its native protocol. The agent gateway translates the messages into a standard protocol, such as SNMP, used by the network management platform allowing the network management platform to monitor and manage the remote devices using the standard network protocol.
