A Service Provider (SP) authentication method includes receiving a message from a subscriber-premises device, the message being compatible with an authentication protocol and being transported from the subscriber-premises device to a u-PE device operating in compliance with an IEEE 802.1x compatible protocol. Access to the SP network is either allowed or denied access based on a logical identifier contained in the message. System and method for authentication of SP ethernet aggregation networks

A community translation service device for providing a translation service to a community of at least one source device is arranged to receive data traffic from a source device in the community. The traffic includes a native data session identifier and, as a source identifier, a source device identifier. The community translation service device comprises a translation component and a database for storing a pool of assigned data session identifiers associated with the source device. The translation component is arranged to translate the native data session identifier to an assigned data session identifier associated with the source device, the community translation service device further being arranged to forward the data traffic including the assigned data session identifier as data session source device information to a service aggregation device.

Apparatus and method for providing data session source device information

A network includes a service selection gateway that receives information from a network user having a network locator address in order to establish a communications session and an identity of the network user. A client service gateway can receive a request from the network user upon establishment of the communications session. In response to the request, the client service gateway determines if there is an association in a local memory for the network locator address and an identity of the network user, obtains additional information associated with the network user, and processes the request according to the additional information. If an association is not stored in the local memory, the client service gateway sends a query for the identity of the network user to the service selection gateway.

A computer-based system is configured for aggregating multiple router configurations into a single router configuration, enabling transfer of functionality from routers configured according to the respective router configurations to a single router having the single router configuration. The system includes a configuration determination resource configured for determining the router configurations from the multiple routers, and a device analyzer resource configured for determining for each router configuration a corresponding candidate configuration to be utilized in the single router configuration. Any conflict detected between the router configuration and the corresponding candidate configuration is managed by a conflict resolution resource, which determines the availability of a resolved configuration in the single router configuration to replace the corresponding router configuration. An router configuration aggregation resource is configured for generating the single router configuration based on the determined candidate configurations and resolved configurations.
