The invention is a joint cover assembly for covering a gap adjacent an edge of a panel that covers a sub-surface, and a method of covering such a gap. The assembly can be manipulated to form an end molding, a T-molding, a hard surface reducer, a carpet reducer, and/or a stair nose molding.

Break-away multi-purpose flooring transition

A ventilated quarter round molding or shoe molding can be used, in combination with a water impervious underlayment to dissipate water vapor which is often generated from subfloors. Such water vapor can damage certain flooring, and the invention allows for the installation of devices to limit or eliminate such damage without significant cost.

Ventilated floor moldings

A nondestructive retrofit fire sprinkler protection system including a sprinkler fitting with a unique shape that inserts behind a wall surface and that securely connects a sprinkler head emerging from a wall location to preferably concealed sprinkler piping located in a room at a point where the ceiling surface meets a wall surfaces. In addition, a room coupler fitting is adapted to be inserted between wall structures to connect sprinkler piping in adjacent rooms.

Fire protection sprinkler system and related apparatus

A method of laying carpet to avoid seam peaking, the method employing an enhanced width seaming tape spanning the abutting edges of the carpet forming the seam. The tape has a hot melt adhesive on the upper surface facing the carpet backing. An enhanced width carpet seaming iron is employed to melt the adhesive and to provide a bond between the tape and the carpet backing. In an alternative embodiment, the tape is made in three segments with one of them applied spanning the seam and the other two in flanking positions along either side of the seam spanning tape. In another embodiment the seaming tape is constructed with a composite modulus of elasticity which varies across the width of the tape. The invention also includes several embodiments of the enhanced width seaming iron for application of the tape to the carpet seam.
