A spinal plate system that maintains intervertebral spacing and spinal stability is provided. One embodiment includes a spacer for establishing an initial condition of an adjustable spinal device. The spacer includes a first coupling portion configured to couple selectively with a first segment of the adjustable spinal device, a second coupling portion configured to couple selectively with a second segment of the adjustable spinal device, and a spacer body extending between the first coupling portion and the second coupling portion. The spacer prevents movement of the first segment of the spinal device relative to the second segment when the first coupling portion is coupled selectively with the first segment and the second coupling portion is coupled selectively with the second segment.

Spinal plate system for stabilizing a portion of a spine

An interbody implant () includes first and second members () that are configured to allow the members () to be inserted into a disc space separately and then connected together in the disc space to form the interbody implant (). This allows for a larger interbody implant () because the combined size of the members () can exceed the size of an access opening into the disc space, with each of the members () being sized to pass separately through the access opening before being connected together in the disc space.

Interbody implant

Embodiments of the present invention provide a spinal implant system and method. One embodiment of the present invention includes a spinal implant comprising, a first implant plate, a second implant plate, a spacer member coupled between the first implant plate and the second implant plate and an end plate coupled to the spacer member, the end plate configured to couple to adjacent vertebrae. The implant plates can include spacer channels that receive the spacer member and insertion tool channels that receive an insertion tool. Preferably, on each implant plate, the spacer channel is near the center of the plate and the insertion tool channels are on either side of the spacer channel. The spacer channels and insertion tool channels can be dovetailed or otherwise shaped to capture a portion of the spacer member and insertion tool. Mating connectors can prevent removal of the spacer member from the spacer channels.

Spinal implant system and method

Embodiments of the present invention provide spinal implant systems and methods. According to one embodiment, a plate attached to one or more vertebrae can prevent expulsion of an interbody device from a disc space. The plate and interbody device can be coupled by an attachment member. According to one embodiment, the attachment member is coupled to the plate and includes a portion inserted in a threaded or non-threaded cavity. Preferably, the coupling between the plate and attachment member allows rotation in three dimensions thereby allowing the plate to rotate relative to the interbody device. This allows the plate to be better positioned for attachment to the spine during an operation.

Spinal interbody system and method

A spinal spacer assembly comprises spacer tubes of different cross sections including kidney shaped, oblong, oval and round. The spacer tubes have internal ribs for receiving top and bottom end caps. Such end caps are pressed into the top and bottom openings of the spacer tube so as to be supported on and frictionally engage the internal ribs. The end caps are flush with the tops and bottoms of the spacer tubes except for serrations on the end caps which may project outwardly therefrom.

An avascular neucrosis instrument includes a drill guide member, an extension member attached to an end of the drill guide member, an indexing member attached to the drill guide member, and a flexible drill member extending along the drill guide member and exiting the drill guide member at an angle adjacent the extension member. In another embodiment, the extension is removed from the end of the drill guide member and another extension member is attached to an end of the flexible drill member. As a result, the flexible drill member can be used to form a plurality of channel arrays for the distribution of blood supply to a femoral head.
