A card sheet including a top material layer having pre-cut weakened lines extending partially but not completely through the top material layer, the top material layer having a front side and a back side; and a starch composition layer applied to the back side of the top material layer, wherein at least a portion of the starch composition diffuses into the top material layer to a depth and renders the top material layer breakable along the weakened lines. A method of making the card sheet, including providing the top material layer, cutting partially through the top material layer; and applying a starch composition to form the starch composition layer on the back side of the top material layer; and at least partially removing any diluent present in the starch composition. The top material layer may be printable, and the card sheet may include a second top material layer.

This invention relates to a composite construction for use as a label or a tape to be adhered to a second substrate comprising a rubber-based material (e.g., vehicular tire), said composite construction comprising: a first substrate (e.g., paper, polymer film or combination thereof), said first substrate having a face side and an underside opposite said face side; an adhesive layer; and a barrier layer adhered to the underside of said first substrate and positioned between said first substrate and said adhesive layer, said barrier layer comprising a radiation cured acrylated epoxy derived from at least one acrylated epoxy oligomer and at least one reactive diluent selected from N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and N-vinylcaprolactam, said barrier layer being substantially impervious to migratory components in said adhesive layer and said second substrate. In one embodiment, a release liner is adhered to the adhesive layer. In one embodiment, the composite construction is adhered to the second substrate.

This invention relates to a multilayered thermoplastic film comprising: a thermoplastic core layer having a first side and a second side, the core layer comprising: a polyolefin having a density in the range of about 0.89 to about 0.97 grams per cubic centimeter; a second polymeric material selected from ionomers derived from sodium, lithium or zinc and an ethylene/methacrylic acid copolymer, and a combination thereof, and a light stabilizer; an abrasion and scuff resistant clear first thermoplastic skin layer overlying the first side of the core layer, and a clear second thermoplastic skin layer overlying the second side of the core layer, both skins containing light stabilizer. The composition of the core layer is different from the composition of the skin layers, and the core layer and the skin layers are characterized by the absence of PVC.

Release composition

A heat-transfer label including a non-wax, non-silicone release layer for use in decorating an article without leaving a visually discernible release residue on the decorated article. In a preferred embodiment, the label includes a transfer portion comprising a protective lacquer layer, an ink design layer over the protective lacquer layer, and a heat-activatable adhesive layer over the ink design and protective lacquer layers, the adhesive layer extending beyond the peripheries of the ink design and protective lacquer layers. The label also includes a support portion, the transfer portion being positioned over the support portion for transfer of the transfer portion from the support portion to an article upon the application of heat to the support portion while the transfer portion is placed in contact with the article. The support portion includes a carrier, the carrier preferably being a polyester film. The support portion also includes a non-wax, non-silicone release layer positioned over the carrier and in direct contact with the protective lacquer layer and the periphery of the adhesive layer.

A heat-transfer label including a non-wax, non-silicone release layer for use in decorating an article without leaving a visually discernible release residue on the decorated article. The adhesive layer preferably includes a polyester resin and an anti-blocking agent, such as a paraffinic wax. The label also includes a support portion, the support portion including a carrier and a non-wax, non-silicone release layer positioned over the carrier and in direct contact with the protective lacquer layer and the periphery of the adhesive layer.

This invention relates release compositions that comprise a radiation curable polyorganosiloxane and cellulose fibers having an average fiber length of about 15 to about 100 microns and an average fiber thickness in the range of about 5 to about 40 microns. This invention also relates to a method of making a release coated substrate comprising coating a substrate with the foregoing release coating composition and curing the coating by exposing it to radiation. This invention relates to release coated articles made by the foregoing method. The invention also relates to multilayered articles comprising a first substrate, a second substrate, the foregoing release composition which has been cured by exposure to radiation, and a pressure sensitive adhesive, the release composition being adhered to the first substrate, the pressure sensitive adhesive being adhered to the second substrate, and the release composition and the pressure sensitive adhesive being adhered to each other.
