Conductor connector assemblies and methods for connecting conductors and conductor connector assemblies are provided. An assembly includes a base attachment accessory extending between a first end and a second end. The base attachment accessory further defines a bore hole extending therein from the second end. The base attachment accessory further includes an internal thread in the bore hole. The assembly further includes a barrel assembly connectable to the base attachment accessory. The barrel assembly includes a barrel extending between a first end and a second end. The barrel assembly further includes a rod extending from the first end of the barrel and an external thread on the rod. The external thread is mateable with the internal thread. The barrel assembly further defines a conductor passage extending into the barrel from the second end thereof. The barrel is radially compressible.

Modular conductor connector assemblies and connecting methods

An asymmetric Stockbridge damper including a clamp and two weights of unequal mass connected to the damper. The damper may further include one or two messenger strands connecting the weights to the clamp. The weights may be situated so that they are an unequal distance from the clamp. The damper may further include a base connected to the clamp, and the weights may be connected to the base. The weights may be bell-shaped. The weights may have smooth contours. The clamp may use a breakaway bolt. The clamp may be designed for high temperature conductor applications. The messenger strands may be made of a 19-strand cable. The messenger strands may be attached to end of the weights and flushed to those ends.

Asymmetrical stockbridge damper

A method for connecting a conductor and a conductor connector accessory includes inserting an end portion of the conductor into an interior of a tube, and inserting the tube into an interior of a barrel. The barrel defines a plurality of radial passages extending between an outer surface of the barrel and the interior of the barrel. The method further includes providing a plurality of lobes, each of the plurality of lobes disposed within one of the plurality of passages. The method further includes inserting the barrel into an interior of an outer shell, and compressing the outer shell, barrel, lobes, tube and end portion together.

Conductor connector accessories and methods for connecting conductors to conductor connector accessories

A method of fusing cables and a dead end assembly and a cable are provided. A joint assembly for fusing cables and a dead end fusing assembly for fusing a cable and a forge assembly are provided. The method includes cutting back strands of a cable, exposing the core; inserting the core of cables into a core grip; positioning the joint assembly over the core grip within certain marked sections of the cables; wrapping the joint assembly with one wrap of detonation cord; securing a detonator to the detonation cord explosive charge and detonating the detonator, such that the core grip fuses the cables together.

Implosive joint and dead-end apparatus and method

A wedge deadend used to secure a cable is disclosed. The wedge deadend includes a single assembled frame comprising two plates. Two wedges between the plates grip a cable between them. A cam/bail retainer is included to align the wedges precisely.

Wedge deadend to support optical ground wire

A connector assembly for use in transmission line installations. An elongated steel tube is provided and an aluminum sleeve is axially inserted into the tube and exhibits a rate of extrusion greater than the tube. A current carrying cable has a plurality of outer strands and a central extending plurality of inner strands which insert within the sleeve. The tube is subjected to a mechanically compressing and area reducing procedure such that the sleeve extrudes at a rate greater than the tube and the aluminum material associated with the sleeve fills irregularities existing between the inner strands. The sleeve also establishes stress relief between the wire strands and the tube. An aluminum outer tubular body is slidably engaged over the assembled tube and sleeve and is mechanically compressed at specified locations in order to secure about the outer strands of the cable.

Compression formed connector for a composite conductor assembly used in transmission line installations and method of constructing the same

An apparatus, called a wedge deadend, used to secure aerial fiber optic transmission lines or cables. The deadend and secured cable can effectively be attached to support structures such as poles or towers. The wedge deadend has a body that consists of multiple hinged segments that are opened and closed to load and access cable. The body accommodates multiple interlocking wedges which track the inside of the body and interlock with each other via teeth. Both the body segments and wedges are tapered such that one end of the body when closed is angled inwardly. When the body is closed, the wedges form an opening that is sized and textured to grip cables of various range diameters. The wedges are designed to compress the encased cable evenly along the entire contact surface of the cable.

Deadend wedge design

The splice enclosure of this invention provides an environmentally safe means for splicing, or joining together, two or more fiber optic cables. This particular enclosure is designed to handle re-entry for possible future splicing of cables not currently active, the addition of more cables or servicing of the existing cables. Further, the enclosure can be mounted to a support structure via mounting plates and fasteners or can be banded to the support structure. The enclosure includes a weather and impact resistant casing and a covered drawer that can be easily removed from the casing and taken to an area wherein splicing can be conducted. The drawer includes a splice tray retaining area that can accommodate several splice trays at a time. Further, the drawer includes a buffer tube storage area where stored buffer tubes will not exceed desired bend radius. Compared to existing splice enclosures, this invention exhibits a higher fiber count capacity, weighs and costs less to manufacture, is more corrosion and ballistic resistant, accommodates larger diameter cables and may be pressurized for environmental sealability.

Fiber optic splice enclosure

An easily installable, robust device capable of securing and supporting cable even under extreme weather and loading conditions. The device supports cable during and after stringing of the cable. The device is easily adaptable to accommodate a large range of cable diameters and can be mounted to a variety of support structures. The device includes a body and cap formed via die casting. A non-machined hinge mechanism that is die cast as a portion of both the body and the cap connects the same and allows the device to be mounted as a single unit to a support structure. A two piece grooved elastomer bushing seats in the body and cap to surround and cushion the cable extending through the device. By altering the size of the grooves of the bushing, various diameter cable can be accommodated. Side walls having windows formed on the body of the trunion help facilitate distribution of the load of the cable. The tunion body also includes a non-threaded hole that may be used in conjunction with a fastener such as a lag bolt or a double arming bolt to secure the trunion to a support structure.

An apparatus, called a wedge deadend, used to secure aerial fiber optic transmission lines or cables. The deadend and secured cable can effectively be attached to support structures such as poles or towers. The wedge deadend has a single assembled frame with an attaching cable for mounting to the support structure and two wedges that slide into the frame. The frame consists of two parallel plates. Each plate has two slots that are tapered and angled toward one another. The wedges are similarly tapered enabling them to be interlocked with the side plates. Both wedges also have a groove that is sized and textured to grip a specified cable. The wedges can be designed to compress the encased cable evenly along the entire contact surface of the wedge, or with varying force along such surface.
