An accessory for improving the accuracy, and/or facilitating the use, and/or improving aesthetics and/or ergonomics of digitizer cursors is disclosed. The accessory mounts an optical element to the position-sighting aperture on the cursor. In all embodiments, the accessory or accessories may be completely and easily removed from the cursor (and replaced). Optical elements may be interchanged and combined so as to permit the operator to select optics that are most efficient for a particular digitizer task. In particular embodiments, the lens is mounted directly to the position-sighting aperture or to another member which is directly mounted to the position sighting aperture. In some embodiments, the optical element is pivotally mounted so that it can be moved into and out of the operator's line of sight. This allows the operator to move the optical element out of his line of sight to the position-sighting aperture without removing the optical element from the cursor.

Optical accessory for digitizer cursors

An assembly utilizable with a digitizer cursor for increasing the accuracy of position determinations made by the operator is disclosed. The assembly comprises in combination a magnifying lens and a connector for attaching the magnifying lens to the cursor in a region about the cross-hairs of the cursor. The connector includes a retainer that is attachable to the cursor and a pivot connected to the lens. The retainer is adapted to be affixed to a surface of the housing near the viewsight of the cursor. The hinge includes a stop adapted to hold the lens parallel to the plane of the cross-hairs. The hinge also includes a cam surface that provides friction between the hinge and the cursor so that the lens is held away from the region above the cross-hairs when the lens is swung away from the viewsight by the operator.

Magnification assembly for digitizer cursor

An assembly utilizable with a digitizer cursor for increasing the accuracy of position determinations, wherein the cursor has cross-hairs for enabling the positioning of the cursor at a desired point on a digitizing surface, comprises in combination a magnifying lens and a connector for mounting the magnifying lens to the cursor in a region near the cross-hairs of the cursor. The connector includes a cradle or holder attachable to the cursor and a mounting arm connected to the lens, the cradle and the mounting arm being releasably connectable to one another. The mounting cradle is attachable exemplarily by adhesive to an outer housing surface of the cursor in a region near the cross-hairs. The mounting arm is integral with the lens, the lens having a polished surface and the mounting arm having relatively rough, unpolished, surfaces. Coacting locking elements are provided on the cradle and the mounting arm for releasably locking the lens in a predetermined position with respect to the cursor.

A digitizer tablet providing secure storage therein for the cables, clips, stylus, and cursor is disclosed. A recess molded in the bottom surface of the tablet is partially covered by a plate so that a rectangular pocket is formed. Two channels are also molded in the bottom surface of the tablet so that the cables used to connect the tablet to a computer and to the stylus or cursor can be safely stored without disconnecting the cables from the tablet.
