A crosslinkable coating composition comprising: ingredient A that has at least two protons that can be activated to form a Michael carbanion donor; ingredient B that functions as a Michael acceptor having at least two ethylenically unsaturated functionalities each activated by an electron-withdrawing group; and a dormant carbamate initiator of Formula (1) wherein Rand Rcan be independently selected from hydrogen, a linear or branched substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms; 1 to 8 carbon atoms; and Ais a cationic species or polymer and n is an integer equal or greater than 1 with the proviso that Ais not an acidic hydrogen; and optionally further comprising ammonium carbamate (HNRROC&#x2550;ONRR). The crosslinkable coating composition can be used for a variety of coating applications including nail coating compositions.

Crosslinkable coating compositions formulated with dormant carbamate initiator

A coating composition containing a crosslinkable coating composition. The coating system comprises: ingredient A that has at least two protons that can be activated to form a Michael carbanion donor; ingredient B that functions as a Michael acceptor having at least two ethylenically unsaturated functionalities each activated by an electron-withdrawing group; and a catalyst system. In one embodiment, the catalyst system comprises diethyl carbonate, quaternary ammonium hydroxide or quaternary ammonium alkoxide, ethanol and 4-6 wt. % water. In another embodiment, the catalyst system comprises carbon dioxide, quaternary ammonium hydroxide or quaternary ammonium alkoxide, ethanol and 2-4 wt. % water. In certain embodiments, the coating composition optionally further comprising ammonium carbamate (HNRR+&#x2014;OC&#x2550;ONRR), wherein RRare each independently selected from hydrogen, a linear or branched substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms; 1 to 8 carbon atoms; 1 to 3 carbon atoms.

Coating system

The present invention includes a cosmetic film. The film includes butylphthalimide isopropylphthalimide, one or more primary film forming polymers and one or more secondary film forming resins.

Cosmetic films

This invention provides a water-reducible oil paint, capable of maintaining a stable suspension of coloring pigment during storage, and having the mechanical, coloring and drying properties of a traditional oil paint and methods for making same. The oil paint comprises a pigment, a base gel composition and an emulsifier-amine soap composition; the base gel composition comprises a traditional drying or semi-drying oil or oil acid, a nonionic or mixed nonionic-anionic emulsifier, having an HLB value in the range of from about 8 to about 18, and a thixotropic gel stabilizer; the emulsifier-amine soap compositon comprises at least one amine soap of an acid, selected from mono- and di-unsaturated drying oil acids, and a nonionic or mixed nonionic-anionic emulsifier. In another embodiment of the invention, the oil paint comprises at least one pigment, a complementary stabilizer, an emulsifier, a polymeric dispersant, a traditional stabilizer, optionally a wetting agent, and a drying oil. The preferred embodiment of this invention is a high-solids artists oil paint.

Water reducible artists'
