A blade assembly is positioned between the flexible display and the translation surface. A rotor is positioned within a curvilinear section of the blade assembly and flexible display. A translation mechanism translates the blade assembly and flexible display between an extended position, a retracted position, and a peek position revealing an image capture device. A multi-region cantilever brush has a partially serrated brush region with cantilevered brush bristles that deflect when a translating mechanical coupler passes through the partially serrated brush region.

A thermal spreader layer is positioned on a surface of a flexible circuit of the flexible layer assembly. The thermal spreader layer has one end thermally coupled within the first device housing and another end thermally coupled within the second device housing to transfer thermal energy between the first and the second structures. The flexible layer assembly deforms within the channel when the first and second device housings pivot about the hinge body from a closed position to an axially displaced open position.

A device includes a housing. The housing can define a duct having a central axis. A first loading surface can extend into the duct toward the central axis, while a second loading surface can extend into the duct toward the central axis. A first driver and a second driver can be situated within the duct along the central axis. The first driver can abut the second driver. A first spring biases the first driver away from the first loading surface, thereby causing the first driver to apply a first loading force to the second driver. A second spring applies a second loading force to the second driver, along a common direction with the first loading force, to bias the second driver away from the second loading surface, with the first spring and second spring operating in parallel on the second driver.

In aspects of flip position detection, a mobile device has a device housing with a base section and a flip section that folds onto the base section. The mobile device has a hinge that operates between open and closed positions of the device, and the flip section of the device housing operates to open relative to the base section of the device housing. An inductor is positioned in the device housing to have an inductance as the hinge operates to open and close the device housing. A metal plate is coupled to the hinge in a configuration that translates the metal plate relative to the inductor as the hinge operates between the open and closed positions. A sensor is implemented to detect the inductance between the inductor and the metal plate, where inductance values indicate the closed and open positions of the device housing.
