An inkjet printer includes a printhead; a carriage for moving the printhead back and forth in a carriage scan direction across the printing region; an output roller that is downstream of the printing region for moving recording medium away from the printing region, the output roller including a shaft; a pump that is coaxially disposed around the shaft of the output roller; and a restraining lever that disconnects the pump from power when the carriage is not in contact with the restraining lever.

A method of feeding media in an inkjet printer including moving a media stopper element for selectively allowing a sheet of media to advance along a media advance path in a media advance direction. A shaft is connected to the media stopper element for moving the media stopper element by rotating the shaft. The media stopper element can be moved via biasing to a first position for preventing the sheet of media from advancing and to a second position for allowing the sheet of media to advance along the media advance path.

An inkjet printing system comprising a media input support and a pivotable pick arm assembly including a pick roller. The assembly is biased to pivot toward the media input support. A rotatable arm is linked to the pivotable pick arm assembly and includes a ramped feature. The printing system further includes a carriage that includes a sloped feature that is in line with the ramped feature of the rotatable arm. When the sloped feature of the carriage is engages with the ramped feature of the rotatable arm the pick arm assembly is pivoted in a direction away from the media input support.

An apparatus and method of operating a maintenance station in a printer are provided. The method includes providing a feed roller shaft including an end, the feed roller shaft being connected to a motor; providing a maintenance station disposed near the end of the feed roller shaft, the maintenance station comprising a first pinion; a second pinion; and a maintenance sled including a rack with the rack including teeth positioned along a length dimension of the rack to provide a travel path for the maintenance sled; and using the motor that is connected to the feed roller shaft to cause the maintenance sled to travel back and forth along the travel path by separately engaging the first and second pinions, respectively, with the rack teeth.

A flash camera has a single-piece shutter-opening/closing and shutter-flash synchronization driver that translates in one direction to pivot a pair of shutter blades away from one another and simultaneously push a movable switch contact of a normally open shutter-flash synchronization switch to close the switch. Then, the movable switch contact is spring-urged to move the switch contact to reopen the shutter-flash synchronization switch and push the single-piece driver in a reverse direction to move the blades towards one another. Movement of the blades away from and towards one another uncovers and recovers an exposure aperture to take a picture.

A normally closed shutter in a camera has at least one blade that is moved to open and close the shutter. A movable blade-driver in the camera has a supporting connection with a fixed support to support the blade-driver for movement, and has a driving connection with the shutter to drive at least the one blade to open and close the shutter when the driver is moved. A fixed blocking ramp in the way of the blade-driver stops the blade-driver once the blade-driver has moved to drive at least the one blade to close the shutter. The fixed ramp is inclined to urge or cam the blade-driver to create a high friction-type force at the supporting connection that impedes movement of the blade-driver to drive at least the one blade to re-open the shutter, whereby the shutter is prevented from being reopened unintentionally.

In a camera, a dual-blade shutter has a pair of shutter blades supported for opening and closing movement to uncover and re-cover an exposure aperture, and a shutter driver that projects into respective overlapping slots in the shutter blades and is supported for shutter opening and closing movement. A high impact striker is movable against a strike portion on the shutter driver to initiate shutter opening movement of the shutter driver, then moves beyond the strike portion, and is returnable past the strike tab to be reset. A fixed post projects into an elongate slot in the shutter driver to support the shutter driver for shutter opening and closing movement and to allow the high impact striker to shift the shutter driver out of the way of the high impact striker so that the high impact striker can be returned past the strike tab without causing the shutter blades to be moved open.

A camera with a built-in electronic flash has a spring-driven high energy lever that is pivoted for initiating shutter opening and for translating a switch closing member to close a normally open shutter-flash synchronization switch. When the switch reopens, it translates the switch closing member in reverse. Then, during film winding a metering cam is rotated to pivot the high energy lever in reverse. The switch closing member is adapted to be pivoted temporarily of the way of the high energy lever to allow the high energy lever to be returned past the switch closing member to an original or home position.

A camera assembly has a support that defines an optical axis. A positioner is held by the support. The positioner has an opening centered on the optical axis. The positioner is pivotable about the optical axis, to a plurality of different orientations relative to the support. A coverglass is rotatably supported exterior to the positioner. The coverglass has a window that is disposed over the opening and an adjuster that is joined to the window. The rotation of the coverglass rotates one of the positioner and the support.

A camera frame assembly has a frame. A lens mount has one or more hooks that grip the frame. A backer dogs the hooks against the frame. In camera recycling, the hooks are first undogged to provide access. The hooks are then released from the camera frame. Following the releasing, the lens mount is separated from the camera frame. The backer can include a baffle that defines an exposure opening aligned with the optical axis of the lens module.

In a photography method, a partial vacuum is provided within a pressure housing of a camera having an unexposed film unit. The camera is sealed against both air entry and venting, while in the partial vacuum. The camera is kept sealed until the film unit is fully exposed and while sealed, a relative pressure differential between the interior of the camera and an environment external to the camera is continuous indicated. The camera has a housing having an internal cavity water-tightly sealed from the external environment. The internal cavity has an unsubmerged internal pressure, at room temperature, less than air pressure at sea level. The camera has a camera frame assembly disposed in the internal cavity and a seal integrity indicator that provides the continuous indication of the relative pressure differential.

A shutter release-thumbwheel brake for a camera has a thumbwheel, a shutter release, and a sprag. The shutter release is pivotable reative to the thumbwheel between a ready position and a first released position and also between the ready position and a second released position. The released positions are opposed. The sprag is joined to the shutter release and brakes the thumbwheel when the shutter release is in either of the released positions.
