A telescoping assembly such as an endobronchial ultrasound needle (EBUS) assembly includes a motor coupled to a biopsy needle within a telescoping housing to rotate (such as to oscillate) the needle during tissue harvest to improve harvesting.

A drive system for cleaning debris within a medical tube. The drive system includes a housing defining an interior and an elongated guide wire residing at least partially within the interior. A roller is disposed in said interior in frictional engagement with the guide wire, said roller being configured to rotate about an axis. The drive system also includes a motor operable to drive the roller in order to both advance or withdraw said guide wire via said frictional engagement therewith through said inlet.

Systems and methods for viscoelastic delivery

A device for clearing obstructions from a medical tube includes a housing defining an interior, an exterior, and a port providing fluid communication therebetween. The device further includes an elongated guide wire residing at least partially within the housing, and first and second rollers defining a nip therebetween that are located within the housing. A guide wire extends through the nip and is drivable for advancement and retraction thereof through the port via rotation of the rollers.

Medical tube clearance device

A device for clearing obstructions from a medical tube includes an elongated guide member residing at least partially with the medical tube. In a resting state, clearance members positioned along the guide member are in a low-profile configuration and allow a substantially unobstructed flow through a lumen of the medical tube. In use, the clearance members are in an enlarged-profile configuration to break up and clear obstructions from within the lumen of the medical tube.

Clearance system for medical tubes such as surgical drains

Apparatus and methods for clearing obstructions from a medical tube are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, a spool drive system is disclosed for actuating a guide wire within a medical tube. The spool drive system can be a hand held, disposable device having a spool housing with a spool therein for alternately advancing and withdrawing a guide wire through an inlet of the spool housing. A track can be spaced from and extend about a perimeter of the spool to direct the guide wire onto or off of the spool as the spool is rotated. Other embodiments and devices for actuating the guide wire, and methods therefor, also are disclosed.

Telescoping needle assembly with rotating needle

A syringe is coupled to a biopsy needle through a coupling structure that includes a motor-driven element such as a gear to rotate the needle. The motor can oscillate back and forth to cause the needle to oscillate. Structures are described to permit one-handed operation of the device and automatic motor activation based on attaining a desired plunger position.

A syringe is coupled to a biopsy needle through a coupling structure that includes a motor-driven element such as a gear to rotate the needle. The needle can have a sharp beveled tip which, in cooperation with rotation of the needle, harvests tissue in vivo via rotation rather than multiple 'sticks' into the patient.

Rotatable syringe system

A delivery assembly includes a sleeve that fits snugly over a main endoscope over a distal end of the endoscope. A cylindrical carrier projects distally away from the sleeve and can carry one or more resilient tissue compression rings in a stretched configuration. A push ring is slidably disposed on the carrier, and an actuator is connected to the push ring. The actuator extends through the carrier, around a distal end of the carrier, and to the push ring to connect thereto such that when the actuator is pulled proximally, the push ring is urged distally on the carrier to push at least one compression ring off the carrier, at which point the compression ring is relaxed to assume a small configuration and clamp target tissue. The actuator may include a distal segment made of a flat ribbon.
