A process for internally cooling an inline compressor involves the steps of providing a compression chamber between an outer cylinder and an intermediate cylinder and a drive chamber between the intermediate cylinder and a piston; admitting gas into the compression chamber; pumping drive fluid through the piston into the drive chamber to extend the intermediate cylinder and compress the compression chamber and the gas in the compression chamber; allowing heat from the compressed gas to transfer to the drive fluid; allowing the compressed gas to exit the compression chamber; allowing the withdrawal of the drive fluid from the drive chamber; passing the withdrawn drive fluid through a heat exchanger to cool the drive fluid for reuse in extending the intermediate cylinder.

Process for internally cooling an inline compressor

A hydraulically operated compressor has a fixed piston and a fixed compression or outer cylinder. A drive or intermediate cylinder is located between the piston and outer cylinder. A compression chamber is formed between the drive cylinder and the outer cylinder. Drive fluid is pumped into and released from an interior chamber in the drive cylinder to reciprocate the drive cylinder. The drive fluid also provides cooling to the interior of the compressor.

An ozone generating apparatus includes a base container for holder water and a head assembly connected to the upper edge of the base container, the head assembly containing ozone generating cells, each having a dielectric tube and an electrode assembly coaxially disposed with the associated dielectric tube. The dielectric tubes and electrode assemblies are disposed and connected such that the tube and/or electrode assembly of each ozone generating cell can be accessed and replaced independently of all other ozone generating cells, and such that the possibility of cascade failure of all remaining ozone generating cells upon failure of a single cell is substantially eliminated.

An automated water treatment system and methods for treating raw water to produce potable water are disclosed. The system is a self-contained portable water treatment system having several selectable treatment subsystems and a controller which automatically selects and controls the mode of operation from a transient, normal or backwashing mode, automatically controls the flow of water through a treatment path based upon the selected mode of operation and the measured water quality characteristics of the water at selected locations, automatically determines, based upon the selected mode of operation and the water quality parameter measurements, which of the plurality of the selectable subsystems is needed to produce potable water at the output; and automatically direct the flow of water through a treatment path through the system to bypass the water treatment subsystems and elements that are not needed to produce potable water. The system is configured to fit inside a standard-sized commercial shipping container for transport and during operation.

In general, the present invention is directed to systems and methods for finding the position and shape of an animal using video. The invention includes a system with a video camera coupled to a computer in which the computer is configured to automatically provide animal segmentation and identification, animal motion tracking (for moving animals), animal feature points and segments identification, and behavior identification. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention may use background subtraction for animal identification and tracking, and a combination of decision tree classification and rule-based classification for feature points and segments and behavior identification. Thus, the present invention is capable of automatically monitoring a video image to identify, track and classify the actions of various animals and the animal's movements within the image. The image may be provided in real time or from storage. The invention is particularly useful for monitoring and classifying animal behavior for testing drugs and genetic mutations, but may be used in any of a number of other surveillance applications.

The invention is a new method and apparatus that can be used to detect, recognize, and analyze people or other objects in security checkpoints, public-places, parking lots, or in similar environments under surveillance to detect the presence of certain objects of interests (e.g., people), and to identify their activities for security and other purposes in real-time. The system can detect a wide range of activities for different applications. The method detects any new object introduced into a known environment and then classifies the object regions to human body parts or to other non-rigid and rigid objects. By comparing the detected objects with the graphs from a database in the system, the methodology is able to identify object parts and to decide on the presence of the object of interest (human, bag, dog, etc.) in video sequences. The system tracks the movement of different object parts in order to combine them at a later stage to high-level semantics. For example, the motion pattern of each human body part is compared to the motion pattern of the known activities. The recognized movements of the body parts are combined by a classifier to recognize the overall activity of the human body.

Method and apparatus for automated video activity analysis

Code compression techniques and decompression architectures for embedded systems are disclosed, providing good compression ratio while improving decompression time for VLIW instructions and reducing bus power consumption. The invention includes two fixed-to-variable (F2V) length code compression schemes based on a reduced arithmetic code compression algorithm combining arithmetic coding with probability models; a static probability model using static coding and semi-adaptive coding using a Markov model. Multi-bit decompression methods for the F2V techniques are presented, together with a parallel decompression scheme that tags and divides a compressed block into smaller sub-blocks. The Markov model provides better compression ratio, but the static model has a less complicated decompression unit design. The invention also includes two variable-to-fixed (V2F) length coding algorithms, one based on Tunstall coding and another on arithmetic coding. The V2F algorithms are also combined with a static model and a Markov model.

The apparatus utilizes a post-cache architecture that has a decompression engine that decompresses compressed object code instructions using dictionary look-up tables, branching instruction controllers and mathematical derivations based on bit toggling. The decompression engine extracts the compressed instructions from memory or the instruction/data cache using a bus compression technique to save power as the compressed instructions/data traverses the bus.

Method and apparatus for object code compression and decompression for computer systems

A code compression method for system-level power optimization that lessens the requirements imposed on main memory size. The method reduces the power consumption of a complete system comprising a CPU, instruction cache, data cache, main memory, data buses and address bus. The method includes extracting compressible instruction and data portions from executable code, creating a mathematical model of the extracted code portions, class the individual instructions in the extracted portions based upon their operation codes and compressing the instructions. The compressed instructions are further compressed when extracted from memory by using bus compaction.
