Apparatus for repositioning and adding or removing individual wires of a series of wires extending longitudinally in side-by-side relation in a row comprising a guide block formed with a cruciform slot defining a guide path and wire escapement; means to move the wires between the guide path and escapement and means to move the guide path along the row to align the escapement with a predetermined wire position in the row. In a method and apparatus for positioning wires, wires are fed from a supply through tubes having fixed wire entry ends and wire exit ends movable to vary the position of the leading ends of the wires.

Wire shuffling apparatus and method

A bipartite cable fastener in which abutting faces of the respective parts are provided with complementary camming surfaces extending in orthogonal directions to center the body parts both axially and transversely during movement of the faces together. A laterally extending, mounting flange and detent shoulder are provided on each part in axially spaced relation for securing the fastener in a panel aperture, a socket for a release tool extending axially from one face to a location adjacent the shoulder and a stress relieving cavity being formed in the opposite face to extend axially between the socket and a cable.

Self-centering cable fastener

A grommet having a body of resilient material formed with a laterally extending mounting flange axially spaced from a laterally extending detent shoulder for securing the grommet in an aperture in a panel received between the mounting flange and detent shoulder and an axially extending socket adjacent the detent shoulder for receipt of a lever-form release tool between a cable anchored by the grommet and the detent shoulder. The socket opens to a front face of the body adjacent the mounting flange and a stress-relieving cavity is formed in the rear face of the body between the socket and the grommet axis. The grommet may be formed by moulding directly onto a cable.

Releasable grommet

A fastener for mounting in a panel aperture including a body portion from which depends a mounting post slotted to provide a C-spring cross-section. Surface portions of the post adjacent each side of the slot and aligned with an envelope defined by the body sides are formed with upwardly facing latching shoulders which are located only outside the envelope.
