An optically readable data storage medium includes a thin film data carrier fabricated from first and second juxtaposed plastic layers. A microembossed data surface is positioned within an interface zone and includes physically displaced surface elements which encode digital data. An adaptor temporarily receives and supports the thin film data carrier from below and includes a centrally located aperture geometrically compatible with a standard CD player spindle to enable the adaptor to be supported and rotated by the spindle. The adaptor includes a refraction zone having an area and a location underlying the microembossed data surface to enable the light beam from the light source of the CD player to be focussed onto the rotatable data surface. The reflected light beam modulated by the digital data encoded within the microembossed data surface is intercepted and converted to an electrical signal by the CD player optical readout device.

A facility (14) is for securing in a removable manner the supporting structure (12) to a top tubular frame portion (16) of a lawn/beach chair (18), while holding a draped towel (20) in place on the lawn/beach chair (18). When the person sits on the towel (20) on the lawn/beach chair (18), the head/neck of the person can rest comfortably on the supporting structure (12).

Optically readable thin film digital data storage medium

A display card is provided on one surface thereof with two images which appear to an observer to be interacting. One of the images is provided on the card by quality ink printing such as lithography. At least a portion of this image occupies but only a portion of a prescribed field of view on the card. The second image, which occupies substantially all of the remainder of the field of view, is provided by a plastic coating adhered to the card and having a reflection-type hologram embossed therein. The holographic image circumscribes and touches at every possible point that portion of the printed image occupying a portion of the field of view. The method of making the display card comprising ink printing one image and adhering the plastic coating bearing the hologram on the card in a manner to circumscribe that portion of the printed image which occupies the field of view. Adherence of the plastic coating is preferably accomplished with a heated metal die having a relief area corresponding to that portion of the printed image which occupies a portion of the field of view.

An authentication system, method and article for memorabilia and other forms of articles wherein a first image-bearing medium is affixed to the article with a tamper-proof adhesive. A unique code number is imprinted on the medium. A certificate of authenticity is provided for the article and includes a second image-bearing medium with an identical unique code number. A list of unique code numbers is maintained to enable a purchaser of the article to register that article such that the purchaser or a subsequent purchaser can verify the authenticity of the authenticated article.

Authentication system

An authentication system, method and article for memorabilia and other forms of articles wherein a hologram is affixed to the article with a tamper-proof adhesive. The hologram has thereon a unique code number. A certificate of authenticity is provided with the article and it includes a like or different hologram, but with a matching unique code number. A master record or list of the unique code number and related article to which the code number applies is maintained by an entity which also provides a registration 'hotline.' A purchaser of the article can register that article, and at any time in the future when the article is sold or otherwise transferred its authenticity can be verified through the registration hotline.
