A noise-free silencer assembly is provided that is suitable for reducing self-vibration noises and screeching noises between a cleaning blade and the imaging member of an electrostatographic reproduction machine. The noise-free silencer assembly comprises a C-shaped cross-section elongate member having (a) a longitudinal axis, a wall defining an interior cavity for containing at least a partially compressed high density polymeric open cell foam, (b) a slot formed in the wall extending generally longitudinally and at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the C-shaped cross-section member, and (c) a hinge recess also formed in the wall extending generally longitudinally, for reducing self-vibration noises and screeching noises between a cleaning blade and an imaging member of an electrostatographic reproduction machine.

Noise-free silencer assembly

A photoreceptor fabrication method composed of spraying a honing composition including particulate material against a substrate in a particulate material spray distribution containing only one peak in a graph of the number of particulate material versus distance along the spray area to create a predetermined surface roughness.

Substrate honing method

A device for supporting a hollow substrate having two open ends in an aligned orientation, wherein one end of the substrate is engageable with a chuck assembly, including: (a) a base for contacting the other end of the substrate; (b) a post coupled to the base, wherein a section of the post is positioned within the substrate, thereby defining a substrate disposed post section; and (c) a spring apparatus coupled to the substrate disposed post section, wherein the spring apparatus is disposed within the substrate and contacts the substrate interior surface, wherein the spring apparatus is compressed by the substrate during misalignment of the substrate with the device and the compressed spring apparatus springs back to push the substrate to the aligned orientation with the device.

Substrate support device

A hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member supporting end flange including a disk shaped member, a supporting hub extending axially from the disk shaped member and a metal disk coaxially secured to the hub, the disk comprising a plurality of rectangular tabs extending radially from the disk in a direction away from an imaginary axis of the hub for engagement with the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member upon insertion of the hub and disk shaped member into one end of the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member. When this end flange is inserted into one end of the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member, the plurality of rectangular tabs extending radially from the disk engage the inner surface of the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member.

Imaging member end flange and end flange assembly

A reusable photoreceptor assembly has a gear assembly removable from a photoreceptor. A square leaf spring or ring is used to secure and remove the gear assembly to and from the photoreceptor, thereby avoiding damage to both the gear assembly and photoreceptor during the removal of the gear assembly. The undamaged gear assembly and photoreceptor may then be reused.
