A coiled embolizing material which can surely embolize an application site or dilatation without extending either end portion thereof out of the dilatation. The distal end portion and/or the proximal end portion of the coiled embolizing material are curved inward in a radial direction of a coil thereof. A push-out means for the embolizing material is detachably connected to the coiled embolizing material.

Coiled embolizing material

A medical wire includes a conductive guide wire and an implanted device, which are connected to each other through a joint member. The joint member is heated by applying a high-frequency current through the guide wire, whereby the joint member is melted and severed so as to detach the implanted device from the guide wire. The joint member is composed of a rod of a swelling resin, the outer diameter of which increases by at least 10% when brought into contact with water. The medical wire may be inserted into a patient's body through a catheter arranged in the patient's body, during which an impedance reducing phenomenon that occurs between the guide wire and a counter electrode provided on the patient's body is detected, thereby confirming that the implanted device has been deposited properly in the patient's body.

Medical wire having implanted device and method for using the same

A high frequency heating power device for an implanted device comprises a switch circuit, an input/output circuit, a high-frequency signal generating circuit, and a check circuit. When a high frequency output circuit applies a high frequency measuring voltage between a guide wire and the body ground board, a voltage is detected which corresponds to the impedance of a circuit which is made up of lead wires, the guide wire, the patient's body, and the body grounding board. It is determined by a discriminating circuit whether or not the voltage thus detected is in a predetermined allowable voltage range. The operator is informed of the discrimination by means of a display circuit and a buzzer circuit, so that he can determine the position of the end of the guide wire with respect to the end of the catheter with ease.

High-frequency heating power device for catheter

A medical wire includes a conductive wire body and an implanted device connected to the distal end of the wire body through a joint member. The medical wire is inserted through a patient's tubular organ, thereby guiding the implanted device to the intended site in the patient's body. In this state, a monopolar high-frequency current is applied to the joint member through the wire body, thereby heating the joint member to cause it melt and sever, whereby the implanted device is detached from the wire body. There are thus provided a medical wire having an implanted device, which permits depositing the implanted device at the intended site in the patient's body by a simple operation within a short period of time, a mechanism which is simple in structure and highly reliable, and a method for depositing the implanted device of the medical wire is also provided.

Medical wire and method for leaving implanted devices

An apparatus for separating a balloon from a catheter member of a balloon is capable of melting and breaking a heat-meltable connecting member through which the balloon is connected to the catheter body by causing an electric current to flow between at least a pair of electrodes arranged on or in the vicinity of the connecting member. The apparatus has impedance measuring means for measuring the impedance of an electrode circuit including a pair of electrodes and lead lines connected to the electrodes, and judging means for comparing the measured value of the impedance with a predetermined reference range and capable of producing an abnormal signal when the measured value of the impedance does not fall within the predetermined reference range. The apparatus enables the operator to judge whether the electrode circuit is in safe condition, before changing the balloon with a settable liquid and to charge a settable liquid into the balloon only when the safe condition of the electrode circuit is confirmed, so that the balloon after the setting of the liquid can be separated from the catheter body without fail, thus eliminating any risk for the catheter body to dangerously remain in the living body.

Method of and apparatus for separating a balloon in a balloon catheter

This invention provides a releasable balloon catheter having a portion cuttable by torsion or a portion cuttable by heating at or near a joint part between the catheter body and the balloon. When the balloon catheter is inserted into a vessel and carried to the desired site by the blood stream and the balloon is inflated by introducing a fluid into the balloon and is fixed at the desired site face-to-face with the wall of the vessel, torsion or heating causes the balloon to be released from the catheter body. The balloon catheter is used to embolize vascular lesions.

Releasable balloon catheter

This invention provides a releasable balloon catheter having a tube cuttable by torsion or a tube cuttable by heating at a joint part between the catheter body and the balloon. When the balloon catheter is inserted into a vessel and carried to the desired site by the blood stream and the balloon is inflated by introducing a fluid into the balloon and is fixed at the desired site face-to-face with the wall of the vessel, torsion or heating causes the balloon to be released from the catheter body. The balloon catheter is used to embolize vascular lesions.

Disclosed is a balloon catheter including a catheter and a balloon bonded to the catheter through an adhesive in which the outer surface of the balloon is contiguous to the outer surface of the catheter through a smooth surface. In this balloon catheter, the balloon is tightly fixed to the catheter and there is no risk of separation of the balloon. Further, since the balloon catheter has a smooth surface in the connecting portion, insertion of the balloon catheter into a blood vessel and withdrawal of the balloon catheter from the blood vessel can be performed very easily and smoothly. Accordingly, this balloon catheter can be used very advantageously for the angiography.
