An exemplary system includes 1) a cochlear implant module configured to be implanted within a patient and including cochlear implant circuitry configured to apply electrical stimulation representative of one or more audio signals to the patient, 2) a first connector assembly coupled to the cochlear implant module and configured to be implanted within the patient, the first connector assembly including a first set of induction coils, 3) an implantable module configured to be implanted within the patient, and 4) a second connector assembly coupled to the implantable module and configured to be implanted within the patient, the second connector assembly including a second set of induction coils. The first and second sets of induction coils are configured to form a multi-channel inductive link between the implantable module and the cochlear implant module. Corresponding systems are also disclosed.

Connectorized cochlear implant systems

An exemplary system includes 1) a cochlear implant module configured to be implanted within a patient and including cochlear implant circuitry configured to apply electrical stimulation representative of one or more audio signals to the patient, 2) a first connector assembly coupled to the cochlear implant module and configured to be implanted within the patient, the first connector assembly including a first induction coil, 3) an implantable module configured to be implanted within the patient, and 4) a second connector assembly coupled to the implantable module and configured to be implanted within the patient, the second connector assembly including a second induction coil. The first connector assembly may be configured to be removably connected to the second connector assembly in order to facilitate inductive transfer of power between the first induction coil and the second induction coil. Corresponding systems are also disclosed.

A modular biomedical implant includes a processor, an electrode array, and a cable. The first end of the cable is attached to the electrode array and a second end of the cable terminates in a first array of contacts. A second array of contacts is electrically connected to the processor. A separate anisotropic conductor is disposed between the first array of contacts and the second array of contacts and forms electrical connections between the first array of contacts and the second array of contacts. A method for replacing a processor of a modular biomedical implant is also provided.

Modular biomedical implants

Exemplary systems and methods for loading a pre-curved electrode array onto a straightening member are described herein. An exemplary system may include a loading tool including a housing and a slider member disposed at least partially within the housing. The slider member may be slidable from a first position to a second position and configured to move a pre-curved electrode array from a curved configuration to a straightened configuration as it slides from the first position to the second position. The exemplary system may also include a straightening member configured to be inserted into the pre-curved electrode array. Corresponding methods are also described.

Systems and methods for loading a pre-curved electrode array onto a straightening member

An exemplary system for loading a pre-curved electrode array onto a straightening member includes a loading tool and a straightening member. An exemplary loading tool may include a body and first and second flexible arms each having a fixed end connected to the body and a free end opposite the fixed end. The first and second flexible arms may define a straightening channel configured to constrain a pre-curved electrode array in a straightened configuration. The first and second flexible arms may be further configured to flex away from each other to receive the pre-curved electrode array into the straightening channel. The straightening member is configured to be inserted into the pre-curved electrode array while the pre-curved electrode array is in the straightened configuration and retain the pre-curved electrode array in the straightened configuration after the pre-curved electrode array is removed from the loading tool. Corresponding methods are also described.

Disk stators or air deflectors are provided for controlling undesirable air flow characteristics in a disk drive. In a four-disk pack arrangement, the stators are arranged in a group of three stacked stators wherein a middle or interior stator is planar, and the upper and lower stators each have complementary shapes with offset mounting brackets thereby providing gaps between the stators. Openings formed in the stators are aligned with one another when assembled enabling a locating pin protruding from the base of the disk drive to be received within the openings. The disk stators can also be incorporated in other disk pack arrangements such as two and three disk packs. The stators are preferably formed in a stamping manufacturing process thereby reducing manufacturing costs.

Apparatuses and methods for improving disk pack balancing are provided including methods for centering disk clamps. One method to center a clamp is to modify the construction of the disk clamp to incorporate a centering flange located on the inner diameter and near an upper surface of the clamp. The hub assembly may also be modified to include an upper chamfer and an annular groove or notch to reduce the amount of potential surface contact between the centering flange of the disk and the outer diameter of the hub, thereby minimizing contamination caused by contact between the disk clamp and hub. Another method for improving disk pack balancing as well as general disk pack robustness is use of a modified hub assembly construction wherein an over-molded section includes a plurality of centering tabs that precisely align spacers and data storage disks within the disk pack.

Apparatuses and methods for improving disk pack balancing in disk drives including methods for centering disk clamps

A device is provided for setting a golf tee in the ground at a desired height and angle. In one embodiment, height adjustment of the tee is provided by a threaded screw member. In other embodiments, a plurality of longitudinally aligned recesses are formed within a longitudinal cavity to provide height adjustment. A bubble level may be incorporated on the device to align the golf tee at either a vertical position, or a desired angular position.

A disk clamp is provided for securing one or more data storage disks to a disk drive without the need for screws. A preloading device is also provided for installing the disk clamp and removing the disk clamp after installation. The preloading device applies a load to the clamp to deflect the clamp, and allows a retaining ring to be positioned between the disk clamp and the hub of the disk drive. Preloading the disk clamp helps to reduce disk drive contamination, potential damage to the motor hub, and improves reworkability of the disk drive. The preloading device can be incorporated within a manually manipulated preloading device, or within an automated assembly process in which the preloading device is incorporated. Methods are also provided for clamp preloading and clamp installation.

Method of installing a disk clamp over a hub of a disk drive

A disk clamp is provided for securing one or more data storage disks to a disk drive without the need for screws. The clamp is deflected by an external load prior to installation. A retaining ring is placed between the hub of the drive and the disk clamp, and the load is removed whereby the clamp springs back to its undeflected state. The disk includes a flat contact surface for contacting a disk or spacer. The disk also had an upper groove for receiving a balance ring, and one or more lower grooves for distributing the load of the clamp.

A clamp for securing data storage disks to a hub of a disk drive mechanism includes a flat body with a protuberance that defines a flat distal surface for engaging a data storage disk. The body also includes bores that receive members for securing the clamp to the hub and at least one groove for distributing the securing force of the securing members.

An integrated spacer clamp for securing data storage disks to a hub of a disk drive mechanism includes an integral body and spacer flange. The spacer flange separates the body and the disk a predetermined distance apart. The body includes bores that receive members for securing the clamp to the hub, and includes one or more grooves for distributing the securing force of the securing members.
