Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A discontinuous reception (DRX) periodicity may be configured to enable monitoring of a reference signal (RS) for RLM procedures. For example, a transmitting device may configure a DRX periodicity for an RS, where the configured DRX periodicity may include a periodicity of discrete transmissions of the RS or a periodicity of a transmission window in which the RS is located. Accordingly, a receiving device may identify the DRX periodicity and monitor radio link quality using the RS based on the DRX periodicity. In some examples, the RS may be transmitted independent of control channel transmissions, and the transmitting device may configure one or more control resource sets for the RS.

Radio link monitoring without always-on reference signals

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first packet and a second packet for transmission during a period for a periodic application. The UE may transmit the first packet and the second packet in a combination of a dynamic grant and a configured grant occasion. In some aspects, a network entity may receive a first packet and a second packet for transmission. The network entity may transmit the first packet and the second packet in a combination of a dynamic grant and a semi-persistent scheduling occasion. Numerous other aspects are described.

Semi-persistent scheduling activation and deactivation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Feedback based codebooks for reducing or eliminating interference between orbital angular momentum (OAM) based backhaul communications between a first network node and a second network node and access communications between the first network node and a user equipment (UE) are described. The first network node may transmit a message to a UE indicating a feedback codebook for a set of reference signals associated with OAM modes. The first network node may transmit the reference signals, where each reference signals may be associated with a respective OAM mode. The UE may generate and indicate in a feedback report to the first network node codewords corresponding to UE feedback for the received reference signals. The first network node may communicate with the UE via an access link and with the second network node via a backhaul link based on the feedback report.

Orbital angular momentum based codebook for access communications

A user equipment (UE) receives downlink communication that triggers a channel state information (CSI) report. Then the UE determines whether to report CSI together with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate sidelink messages over one or more carriers. The UE may schedule a first sidelink message for transmission on a first resource of a first carrier of a set of carriers on which the UE is configured for sidelink carrier aggregation. After scheduling the first sidelink message, the UE may schedule a second sidelink message for transmission on a second resource of a second carrier that at least partially overlaps in time with the first resource. The UE may determine that a transmission capability of the UE pertaining to the overlapping sidelink transmissions has been exceeded by scheduling the second sidelink message and may pre-empt transmission of the first sidelink message in favor of transmission of the second sidelink message based on the transmission capability of the UE being exceeded.

Aspects described herein relate to determining a failure associated with reception, by a base station, of an initial transmission of a random access message transmitted by the UE in a two-step random access procedure, and based on determining the failure situations associated with reception of the random access message, configuring the parameters of a retransmission and/or retransmitting at least a portion of the random access message.

Techniques for retransmitting random access messages in wireless communications

Systems, methods, computer-readable medium, and apparatus are disclosed that allow for control information to be provided in an efficient manner during short burst transmission. For example, an apparatus may be configured to receive downlink control information (DCI) that indicates an allocated resource from a base station. The apparatus may also receive data from the base station. The apparatus may generate a cyclically shifted sequence that corresponds to a sequence that is cyclically shifted based on at least one of an ACK or NACK for the received data and a SR. The apparatus may then transmit the cyclically shifted sequence in the allocated resource within one symbol period of a slot of a subframe to the base station. Thus, by transmitting the SR and the ACK/NACK in one symbol, control information for short burst transmissions can be provided in a more temporally efficient manner without adding excessive complexity to the UE.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for channel measurements for multiple uplink carriers in carrier aggregation (CA). A CA configuration may provide a first downlink carrier, a first uplink carrier, and a second uplink carrier. The second uplink carrier may be a supplemental uplink (SUL) carrier that does not have an associated downlink carrier in a same frequency band. A measurement downlink carrier may be configured and associated with the second uplink carrier, and measurements of a reference resource of the measurement downlink carrier may be used to determine transmission parameters of the second uplink carrier.

Techniques for channel measurements for multiple uplink carriers in carrier aggregation

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for channel state information (CSI) for multiple transmission reception point (mTRP) scenarios. The techniques may provide for dynamic interference measurement for mTRP CSI. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a CSI reporting configuration configuring the UE with a plurality of CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) resources for channel measurement (CMRs) and a plurality of resources for interference measurement (IMRs). The method includes determining an indicator based on an association between one or more CMRs and one or more IMRs. A codepoint of the indicator is associated with an IMR or a set of IMRs by an order of the IMRs or the set of IMRs in the configuration, and is associated with a CMR, a CMR pair, or a part of the ports of a CMR. The method generally includes performing CSI measurement based on the association.

Dynamic interference measurement for multiple-TRP CSI

Example implementations include a method, apparatus and computer-readable medium of wireless communication by a user equipment, comprising receiving at least one configuration associated with a plurality of connected mode discontinuous reception (C-DRX) cycles, wherein a first C-DRX cycle of the plurality of C-DRX cycles is associated with a set of user equipment (UE) operations and a second C-DRX cycle of the plurality of C-DRX cycles is associated with a subset of UE operations of the set of UE operations. The implementations further include transmitting data based on performance of one or more UE operations of the subset of UE operations during the second C-DRX cycle.

Customizable connected mode discontinuous reception

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines a transmission gap adjustment (TGA) for a first message (msgA) of a 2 step random access channel (RACH) procedure based on measurement of a reference signal transmitted by a base station as well as the radio resource configuration (RRC) configurations for msgA. In other aspects, a base station transmits a system information block (SIB) or RRC signaling that indicates at least one possible configuration of the TGA, and UEs determine the TGA depending on RRC state. Connected mode UEs having a timing alignment (TA) timer running may determine the TGA based on a previous TA. UEs in other RRC modes determine the TGA based on the possible configuration transmitted in the SIB or RRC signaling. Advantageously, 2 step RACH UEs are able to communicate with the base station without the closed loop TA information provided by a 4 step RACH.

Aspects relate to a network entity sending downlink control information to a user equipment (UE) that the UE uses to receive a message from the network entity. The network entity may send to the UE a first DCI that includes a first transmission parameter or an indication thereof to be used for receiving a first message and a second DCI that includes a second transmission parameter to be used for receiving a second message.

A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a network node, a first message configuring a group of component carriers that includes a primary component carrier and one or more secondary component carriers. The method also includes receiving, from the network node, a second message configuring a number of repetitions of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission. The method further includes transmitting, to the network node, each repetition of the PUCCH transmission via the primary component carrier or one of the one or more secondary component carriers in accordance with the number of repetitions, each repetition being transmitted on only the primary component carrier in accordance with the number of repetitions being greater than one, and each repetition being transmitted on either the primary component carrier or the secondary component carrier in accordance with the number of repetitions being equal to one.
