An automatic transfer switch includes a first phase switch component having a first plurality of cassettes, and at least one outer bus component disposed at an outer side of the first phase switch component. The automatic transfer switch additionally includes a first plate which is disposed on the outer side of the first phase switch component at a terminal end of the first phase switch component. The first plate is structured to increase impedance on an outer bus component of the first phase switch component to rebalance current along the first phase switch component.

Current balancing for automatic transfer switches

A switch assembly, a system, and a method are provided. One such switch assembly includes a first connection bus to connect to a power source or a load and a second connection bus to connect to one of a second power source or the load. The switch assembly includes a shaft, a driving mechanism to engage the shaft, and a toggle arm connected to the first connection bus and secured to the driving mechanism. The switch assembly includes a pivot arm electrically connected to the second connection bus and including a contact pad. The shaft is structured to rotate the toggle arm from a closed position to an open position by rotating the driving mechanism, and in the closed position, a contact pad of the toggle arm contacts the contact pad of the pivot arm. The pivot arm is maintained substantially parallel to the second connection bus.

Flat force blow-on switch

Systems of automatic transfer switches (ATS) are disclosed herein. One apparatus includes at least two automatic transfer switches coupled together. Each automatic transfer switches has contacts to couple a power source to a load. For each switch, an electromagnetic force biasing the contacts to each other is present if an electrical current flows through the switch. The automatic transfer switches may be on separate cassettes or on a single cassette. The power source of each switch may be the same or different.

Low profile blow-on force automatic switch

Automatic transfer switches and methods of forming such switches are disclosed herein. One automatic transfer switch disclosed herein includes a first source bar structured to connect to a first power source, a second source bar structured to connect to a second power source, and a stationary bar structured to be coupled to a load. The automatic transfer switch also includes a first movable bar and a second movable bar each electrically coupled and rotatably connected to the stationary bar. The length of each movable bar and the angle of each movable bar with respect to the stationary bus bar are selected to approximately balance the contact force on each movable bar. Thus, smooth and reliable operations of the automatic transfer switch can be achieved.

Balanced force blow-on contact automatic transfer switch

An automatic transfer switch assembly includes a first phase switch component, a second phase switch component and a third phase switch component arranged in order of the first phase switch component, the second phase switch component, and the third phase switch component in a line. The assembly further includes a first shield disposed between the first phase switch component and the second phase switch component, and a second shield disposed between the second phase switch component and the third phase switch component. Each of the first shield and the second shield includes a plurality of laminations of electrical steel.
