Provided is a valve structure of a shock absorber which is capable of controlling respective damping forces according to a frequency in compression and rebound motions of a piston valve, thereby satisfying both the ride comfort and the control stability. The valve structure of the shock absorber, which has a cylinder filled with a working fluid and a piston rod having one end located inside the cylinder and the other end extending outward from the cylinder, includes: a main piston valve assembly installed at one end of the piston rod and configured to operate in a state that the inside of the cylinder is divided into an upper chamber and a lower chamber, and generate a damping force varying according to a moving speed; and a frequency unit configured to move together with the main piston valve assembly and generate a damping force varying according to a frequency. The frequency unit includes: a hollow housing mounted at a lower end of the piston rod such that the housing is disposed under the main piston valve assembly; and a free piston disposed to be vertically movable within the housing.

Valve structure of shock absorber

Disclosed herein is a piston assembly of a shock absorber which ensures easy and prompt connection of components in the correct positions in assembling the piston assembly of a shock absorber by forming a seating unit between a piston body and a compression retainer and between the piston body and a tension retainer.

Piston assembly of shock absorber

A shock absorber is provided. The shock absorber includes: a piston rod; an inner passage having an inlet port at an outer periphery of the piston rod; and a stopper installed at the outer periphery of the piston rod. The stopper is disposed to surround the inlet port of the inner passage, and an outer passage extending from an upper portion of the stopper to the inlet port is formed between the stopper and the piston rod.

Shock absorber

A valve structure includes a piston valve assembly, and a frequency unit including a hollow housing, a free piston and an auxiliary valve assembly. The piston valve assembly, installed at one end of a piston rod, operates with the inside of a cylinder being divided into upper and lower chambers, and generates a damping force varying according to a moving speed. The frequency unit moves together with the piston valve assembly and generates a damping force varying according to a frequency. The housing is mounted at a lower end of the piston rod such that the housing is disposed under the piston valve assembly. An inner space of the housing is partitioned into upper and lower spaces by the free piston. The free piston is disposed to be vertically movable within the housing. The auxiliary valve assembly is mounted at a lower end of the housing.

A frequency unit valve is provided. In the frequency valve, a free piston reciprocates within a housing where a sub-valve is mounted in a lower portion. Variable frequency units installed above and under the free piston provide a damping characteristic by selectively opening or closing a passage when a frequency of a piston rod is in a high-frequency region and a low-frequency region. Accordingly, the vehicle ride comfort is maximally improved.

Provided is a piston assembly of a shock absorber, which is simple in structure and is easy to fabricate. The piston assembly of the shock absorber includes: a piston body in which a piston rod reciprocating within a cylinder penetrates a central portion thereof, and a plurality of compression passages and a plurality of rebound passages alternately penetrating the piston body are formed around the piston rod; a compression retainer placed over the piston body, in which a plurality of connection holes corresponding to the compression passages penetrate the compression retainer; and a rebound retainer placed under the piston body, in which a plurality of connection holes corresponding to the rebound passages penetrate the rebound retainer.
