The present invention provides an electron gun for a cathode ray tube that forms a main focus lens of a maximum diameter within a neck of a limited diameter to thereby realize high focus performance and resolution characteristics. The electron gun includes a single cathode emitting electrons; first and second grid electrodes forming a triode portion with the cathode; a third grid electrode provided subsequent to the second grid electrode; a fourth grid electrode provided subsequent to the third grid electrode and to which a focus voltage is applied, the fourth grid electrode including an input section positioned opposing the third grid electrode and an output section connected to the input section; a fifth grid electrode mounted surrounding part of the fourth grid electrode with a predetermined gap therebetween and to which an anode voltage is applied; and a connector interconnecting the third grid electrode and the fifth grid electrode, wherein the output section of the fourth grid electrode is exposed.

Electron gun for cathode ray tube

An electron gun for a color cathode ray tube includes a triode having a cathode, a control electrode and a screen electrode for producing an electron beam, and first, second, third and fourth focus electrodes and a final accelerating electrode for accelerating and focusing the electron beam. A predetermined static focus voltage is supplied to the first and third focus electrodes, a dynamic focus voltage synchronized with a deflection signal is supplied to the second and fourth focus electrodes, and an anode voltage higher than the highest dynamic focus voltage is supplied to the final accelerating electrode. Thus, by means of a dynamic and axially symmetrical lens, astigmatism of the electron beam spot on the periphery of the screen is improved, thereby forming an almost circular beam spot. Due to the dynamic variation of intensity of the main lens, the spot size on the periphery of the screen approaches is the spot size on the center of the screen through adjustment of the focusing distance of the electron beam.

An electrode for electro gun of a cathode ray tube includes an external electrode member formed on the top of a cup-shaped body and having a large-diameter electron beam passing hole through which three electron beams pass commonly, and an internal electrode member inserted into the external electrode member and having three separate electron beam passing holes on the top of the internal electrode, wherein protrusions are formed on the outer surface of the internal electrode member, thereby enhancing the assembly precision of the external and internal electrode members.

A dynamic focusing electron gun is provided which includes a cathode and first and second grids which collectively form a triode, a plurality of electrodes for forming an auxiliary lens, and an anode installed adjacent to the final electrode of the auxiliary lens for forming a main lens. Electron beam passing holes are formed in the electrodes of the auxiliary lens so that an electron beam is repeatedly and alternately deformed in the sequence of the vertically-elongated and then horizontally-elongated (or horizontally-elongated and then vertically-elongated) shapes, constituting more than two quadrupole lenses of opposing polarities.

Dynamic focusing electron gun

An electron gun for a color cathode ray tube includes a cathode, control and screen electrodes forming a triode, 1st to 3rd focus electrodes forming a first unipotential prefocus lens, 4th and 5th focus electrodes forming a second unipotential prefocus lens with the 3rd focus electrode, a 6th focus electrode forming a bipotential prefocus lens with the 5th electrode adjacent thereto, and an accelerating electrode for forming a bipotential main focus lens with the 6th focus electrode. Vertically-elongated electron beam passing holes are respectively formed in the outgoing planes of the 1st, 3rd and 5th electrodes and horizontally-elongated electron beam passing holes are respectively formed in the incoming planes of the 3rd, 5th and 6th focus electrodes. The 2nd and 4th focus electrodes are supplied with a predetermined first static focus voltage, the 3rd and 5th focus electrodes are supplied with a second static focus voltage higher than the first static focus voltage, and the 1st and 6th focus electrodes are supplied with a dynamic focus voltage which is synchronized with a deflection signal and whose negative peak equals the second static focus voltage. The astigmatism of an electron beam spot on the periphery of the screen is improved using a dynamic quadrupole lens, thereby forming an almost circular beam spot with a small halo. Also, the focusing distance is adjusted by the dynamic variation of the intensity of a main lens, so that the spot size formed on the periphery approaches that on the center of the screen.

An electron gun for a color cathode ray tube includes a cathode, a control electrode and a screen electrode constituting a prepositioned triode. First, second, third and fourth focus electrodes form two pre-focus lenses and a final accelerating electrode positioned adjacent to the fourth focus electrode forms a main focus lens. The first pre-focus lens is synchronous with a deflection signal. Variation of the focussing intensity of the main focus lens is compensated for by the first pre-focus lens.
