Arcuate fixation members with varying configurations and/or features are provided, along with additional components for use therewith in provided fixation systems and intervertebral implant systems. The arcuate fixation members may be of varying lengths, cross sectional geometries, and/or cross sectional areas, and may be configured with various features such as heads configured to accept other fixation system components, tabs to allow arcuate fixation member-in-arcuate fixation member or fixation anchor-in-arcuate fixation member configurations. Applications of fixation systems and intervertebral implants systems utilizing arcuate fixation members are particularly suitable when a linear line-of-approach for delivering fixation members is undesirable.

Arcuate fixation member

A protective device includes an airbag assembly configured to extend at least partially around a waist or hips of an individual; a buckle attached to the airbag assembly, the buckle comprising a first buckle half, and a second buckle half, the first and second buckle halves being attachable to and detachable from one another; and an airbag actuator configured to actuate the airbag assembly. At least a portion of the airbag actuator is disposed in the first buckle half or the second buckle half.

An insertion instrument is configured to eject at least one anchor body into respective target locations, and subsequently apply a predetermined tensile force at least one actuation member of the at least one anchor member so as to actuate the at least one anchor body from a first configuration to a second expanded configuration. The insertion instrument can include a tension assembly that applies the predetermined tensile force to the at least one actuation member. The predetermined tensile force can be defined by a distance of travel, a predetermined failure force of a fuse, or a combination of distance of travel and a predetermined failure force of a fuse.

Insertion instrument for anchor assembly

A method for syndesmosis fixation including at least one suture anchor configured to be implanted into bone and at least one suture assembly configured to extend from the suture anchor and about at least a portion of a fibula when the suture anchor is implanted in a tibia on either side of a fibular notch of the tibia. The suture assembly is selectively adjustable from a non-tensioned condition to a tensioned condition to stabilize and reduce the fibula relative to the tibia.

Apparatus and method for syndesmosis fixation

A compression screw comprising a threaded shaft and a head associated with the proximal end of the shaft. The head has a plurality of outwardly extending projections spaced from one another so as to define a plurality of recesses there between for receiving a screw drive in such a way that rotational force may be transferred from the screw drive to the screw. The projections of the head may be provided with suture fixation holes or a suture coupling may be positioned over the shaft so as to extend between the projections of the head.

Compression screw system

An insertion instrument is configured to eject a pair of anchor bodies across an anatomical gap so as to approximate the gap. The insertion instrument can include a single cannula that retains the pair of anchor bodies in a stacked relationship, or a pair of adjacent cannulas that each retain respective anchor bodies. The insertion instrument can be actuated so as to eject the anchor bodies into respective target anatomical locations.

Systems including noise suppression devices for personal impact protection systems are provided. One such system includes an inflator having an inflator discharge port; a flexible permeable inner tube configured to receive gas from the inflator via the inflator discharge port; and a flexible outer tube surrounding the inner tube and configured to receive gas from the inner tube, the outer tube including one or more outer tube discharge ports. Another such system includes an inflator having an inflator discharge port; a flexible non-permeable tube configured to receive gas from the inflator via the inflator discharge port; and a permeable gas diffuser element disposed in or adjacent to the tube, the diffuser element being configured to receive gas from the inflator via the inner tube.

Methods for approximating a tissue defect using an anchor assembly

A soft tissue displacer tool can include a shaft that is elongate along a central axis, the shaft including a shaft body that defining a proximal end, a distal end that is spaced from the proximal end in a distal direction, and a central location that is disposed equidistantly between the proximal and distal ends. The shaft defines at least one inclined groove that 1) is inclined with respect to a plane that is normal to the central axis, and 2) revolves about the central axis, the groove terminating at a first end and a second end that is spaced from the first end along the distal direction, and the second end is spaced from the distal end. Soft tissue displacer tools are also described in which the shaft is cannulated. The soft tissue displacer tool can further include a guidance member, such as a K-wire, a trocar, or a bone punch.

The present invention provides an apparatus for suture-based tissue repair, preferably for the annulus of a spinal disc, that includes a suture loop preferably pre-tied with a sliding knot, a clasp-type component that captures the ends of the suture loop, and an optional plug member that fills the tissue defect. Also disclosed is a method that places the suture loop in a full-thickness stitch encircling the tissue defect, secures the ends of the suture loop to the clasp, and cinches the suture loop to approximate the tissue without the need to tie knots. Also disclosed is a suture passer that enables a suture strand or loop to be passed through the tissue wall, captured, and retrieved. The suture passer may optionally incorporate a clasp in such an arrangement that enables a suture loop passed through the tissue wall to be captured directly by the clasp.

Suture based tissue repair

A method of operating a wearable includes receiving an inertial movement from an inertial measurement sensor disposed on a user. The inertial measurement is indicative of a movement of the user from a first pose to a second pose away from the first pose. The method also includes determining a movement vector defining the movement of the user from the first pose to the second pose based on the inertial measurement. The movement vector is relative to the first pose. The method also includes determining whether the movement vector satisfies a threshold movement vector. When the movement vector satisfies a threshold movement vector, the method includes instructing at least one actuator to apply a feedback response on the user.
