A gas laser has a coolable inner electrode for connection to a radio-frequency power source and a coolable outer electrode that is coaxial with and radially spaced from the inner electrode with an excitation space containing the gas to be excited in the radial space between the inner and outer electrodes. With a view to improving a laser of this type in such a way that excitation at higher power with retention of homogeneous discharge is possible, that gas decomposition is slower, and that any desired liquid coolant can be used regardless of the electrical conditions, the excitation space is radially bounded by two, tubular dielectric bodies which are coaxial with and radially spaced from each other.

Gas laser and production process therefor

A gas laser has (1) a reflecting body with a reflecting surface, (2) excitation space structure cooperative with the reflecting body for defining an excitation space which is open opposite the reflecting surface of the reflecting body, (3) devices for lasingly exciting a gas in the excitation space and (4) a mirror assembly. The mirror assembly has a mirror having a reflecting surface facing the opening in the excitation space. A radial flange is about the mirror with the reflecting surface of the mirror on one axial side of the radial flange. At least one spacer and, preferably three, circumferentially-spaced bars project from the excitation space structure and engage the radial flange substantially axially for supporting it at least one of axially slidably and tiltably. Bellows sealingly connect the one axial side of the radial flange to the opening of the excitation space structure and its other axial side to a backplate immovably connected to the spacer bar on the other axial side of the radial flange. Preferably, the reflecting body is another such mirror assembly.

Mirror assembly for gas laser

To permit, selectively, illumination of an operating-room field for depth illumination in a path of radiation which may differ from field illumination, a ring-shaped full reflector (3) is located in a reflective position with respect to a light source (1, 2), and, in advance of the main, fully reflective mirror, a mirror system is located which has apertures which can be selectively covered or uncovered with a further mirror element (6, 13, 19) so that the amount of light passing through the apertures of the second mirror system through the first mirror system can be varied, and the path of light controlled in accordance with the relative position of the mirror systems, while the intensity of light reflected by the respective mirror systems is controlled by the positioning of the movable element of the second mirror system with respect to the fixed one.

Operating-room light with variable illumination

To permit adjustment and ready removal of a halogen lamp from an operating room light so that the halogen bulb (3) can be positioned with respect to a dome-shaped reflector (1) to control the light distribution therefrom while being readily removable for bulb replacement and cleaning, a pivot arm (5) is hinged at a circumferential point to the outer circumference of the reflector (1) and held in horizontally extended position across the reflector by a latch (16, 20; 18, 19, 19'; 21, 27). The other end of the latch is in engagement with a vertically positionable adjustment sleeve or rod (7) to adjust the position of the latch arm, and hence of the lamp bulb (3) with respect to the apex of the reflector (1) by pivoting of the pivot arm (5) about its pivot point (6) adjacent the circumference of the reflector. A plurality of such lamps may be combined in a common housing (H), and adjustment can be carried out conjointly, for example by a drive (11, 23) common to all the adjustment elements.
