The present disclosure provides mesoporous catalyst compounds and compositions having one or more group 13 atoms. The present disclosure further relates to processes for converting hydrocarbon feedstocks to small olefins. In one aspect, a catalyst compound includes a zeolite having a structural type selected from MFI, MSE, MTW, Theta-One (TON), Ferrierite (FER), AFI, AFS, ATO, BEA, BEC, BOG, BPH, CAN, CON, EMT, EON, EZT, FAU, GME, GON, IFR, ISV, ITN, IWR, IWW, LTL, MAZ, MEI, MOR, MOZ, OFF, OKO, OSI, SAF, SAO, SEW, SFE, SFO, SSF, SSY, and USI, or a combination thereof, the zeolite having a silicon to aluminum molar ratio (Si/Al ratio) of from about 5 to about 40. In one aspect, a catalyst composition includes the catalyst compound and one or more group 13 metal.

Mesoporous catalyst compounds and uses thereof

Sulfur-tolerant reforming catalysts that include bulk alumina in the catalyst support are provided. The sulfur-tolerant reforming catalysts can include a sulfur-tolerant catalytic metal to facilitate reforming. The catalyst can further include a support material that includes at least some alumina as bulk alumina and/or octahedrally coordinated alumina. The sulfur-tolerant reforming catalysts can be regenerated, such as periodically regenerated, under relatively mild conditions that allow the catalysts to maintain reforming activity in the presence of 1 vppm to 1000 vppm of sulfur in the feed for reforming.

Reforming using sulfur-tolerant reforming catalyst

A power system comprises an engine configured to combust an air/fuel mixture and produce a flow of exhaust gas; an exhaust passageway fluidly connected to the engine to receive the flow of exhaust gas; an exhaust gas recirculation loop fluidly connecting the exhaust passageway to a fuel intake for the engine; a first conversion zone containing a fuel reforming catalyst located within the exhaust gas recirculation loop; and a second conversion zone located within the exhaust gas recirculation loop separate from and downstream of the first conversion zone stream, the second conversion zone containing a fuel cracking catalyst.

An electrochemical conversion method for converting at least a portion of a first mixture comprising hydrocarbon to Cunsaturates by repeatedly applying an electric potential difference, V(&#x3c4;), to a first electrode of an electrochemical cell during a first time interval &#x3c4;; and reducing the electric potential difference, V(&#x3c4;), to a second electric potential difference, V(&#x3c4;), for a second time interval &#x3c4;, wherein &#x3c4;&#x2264;&#x3c4;. The method is beneficial, among other things, for reducing coke formation in the electrochemical production of Cunsaturates in an electrochemical cell. Accordingly, a method of reducing coke formation in the electrochemical conversion of such mixtures and a method for electrochemically converting carbon to Cunsaturates as well as an apparatus for such methods are also provided.

Electrochemical conversion of hydrocarbons

Zn-promoted and/or Ga-promoted cracking catalysts, such as cracking catalysts comprising an MSE framework zeolite or an MFI framework zeolite can provide unexpectedly superior conversion of branched paraffins when used as part of a catalyst during reforming of a hydrocarbon fuel stream. The conversion and reforming of the hydrocarbon fuel stream can occur, for example, in an internal combustion engine. The conversion and reforming can allow for formation of higher octane compounds from the branched paraffins.

Fuel upgrading by reforming and dehydrocracking

Catalyst compositions suitable for use in the exhaust gas recycle stream of an internal combustion engine are provided. Such catalyst compositions typically provide significant amounts of methane in addition to syngas. A reformer incorporating such a catalyst for use in an exhaust gas recycle portion of an internal combustion engine powertrain is described. A powertrain incorporating such a reformer, a method of increasing the octane rating of an exhaust gas recycle stream, and a method of operating an internal combustion engine using methane-assisted combustion are also described.

The present invention relates to methods and systems for removing polar molecule contaminants from a refinery stream in connection with the processing of hydrocarbon fluids, chemicals, whole crude oils, blends and fractions in refineries and chemical plants that include adding high surface energy and/or high surface area nanoparticle compounds to a refinery stream to remove the polar molecule contaminants.

Provided are improved exhaust gas cleaning systems and methods for treating exhaust gas from a combustion source that include a hydrogen generation system, a regenerable sulfur oxides trap, and a regenerable nitrogen storage reduction (NSR) catalyst trap. The improved exhaust gas cleaning systems and methods allow for the sulfur released from the sulfur trap to pass through the nitrogen oxide trap with no or little poisoning of NOstorage and reduction sites, which significantly improves NSR catalyst trap lifetime and performance to meet future emissions standards. The disclosed exhaust gas cleaning systems are suitable for use in internal combustion engines (e.g., diesel, gasoline, CNG) which operate with lean air/fuel ratios over most of the operating period.

Regenerable sulfur traps for on-board vehicle applications

Biomass is used as a co-feed for a heavy petroleum oil coking process to improve the operation of the coking process and to utilize biomaterial for the production of transportation fuels. The coking process may be a delayed coking process or a fluidized bed coking process and in each case, the presence of the biomass will decrease the coke drying time so reducing coke handling problems in the unit besides forming a superior coke product. In the case of a fluidized bed coking process using a gasifier for the coke, the addition of an alkali metal salt improves the operation of the gasifier.

Biomass conversion process

A biomass pyrolysis oil is used as a co-feed for a heavy petroleum oil coking process to improve the operation of the coking process and to utilize biomaterial for the production of transportation fuels. The coking process may be a delayed coking process or a fluidized bed coking process and in each case, the presence of the biomass pyrolysis oil will decrease the coke drying time while reducing coke handling problems in the unit besides forming a superior coke product. Biomass oil conversion process

Provided are improved regenerable SOtrap formulations for on-board vehicle applications. The regenerable sulfur trap formulations reduce the rate of sulfur poisoning of a downstream nitrogen storage reduction (NSR) catalyst trap in exhaust gas cleaning systems for combustion engines by adsorbing SOas metal sulfate under lean exhaust conditions and desorbing the accumulated SOunder rich exhaust conditions. The regenerable sulfur oxides trap catalyst compositions include a metal (M) oxide, wherein M is selected from Cu, Fe, Mn, Ag, Co and combinations thereof and a metal (M)-La&#x2014;Zr oxide, wherein M is selected from Cu, Fe, Mn, Ag, Co and combinations thereof. A fuel management system mounted on a vehicle is operative to feed individually or a mixture of grades of relatively low, intermediate, and high autoignition temperature fuels to an associated internal combustion engine. The system includes an on board separation unit (OBS unit) for receiving and separating intermediate autoignition temperature (IAT) fuel into low and high autoignition temperature fuels, LAT and HAT, respectively. The production rate of the LAT and HAT fuels by the OBS unit is controlled to substantially match the consumption requirements of the engine at any given time for the LAT and HAT fuels.
