A dental handpiece, which has a gripping part connectable to a supply hose and a head part with a head housing which is removably held at the free end of the gripping part, characterized by the gripping part having at least one light conductor with an end located adjacent to the connection between the two parts to project light therefrom and having an inclined free end surface engaging an inclined oblique surface of the head part with the surfaces extending so that the lower end thereof merges with the head housing. A lower portion of the end surface is formed by a carrier part which accepts the ends of the light conductors to project light into the area of the tool held by the housing of the head part.

Dental handpiece

The present invention is directed to a dental spray handpiece for agents such as air and water having a nozzle member with a discharge orifice at one end and a connecting element at the other end and a housing forming a grip piece for the dental handpiece containing an arrangement for controlling flow of the agents and a connection to a supply hose with the nozzle and having a coacting element forming a rotary joint characterized by the nozzle member having a light conductor extending from the discharge orifice up to the rotary joint and a light source being provided in the vicinity of the rotary joint and in optical communication with the other end of the light conductor so that light is conducted through the nozzle and projected out of the nozzle adjacent to the discharge opening.

Dental spray handpiece

The present invention is directed to a dental spray hand piece which has a valve for controlling the flow of an agent through an agent line that extends through the hand piece to a spray nozzle and an arrangement for preventing dripping of the agent from an end of the nozzle when the valve stops flow of the agent through the line, characterized by the arrangement for preventing dripping including a hose section of elastic material being positioned between the valve and the nozzle, a thrust piece for acting on the hose section in an arrangement for moving the thrust piece from a position engaging the hose section and a second position partially deforming the hose section from an enlarged cross-section to a cross-section of the flow through the valve. Thus, when the valve stops flow the hose section resumes its enlarged cross-section which causes a suction to draw fluid in the line between the valve and the end of the nozzle inward from the end of the nozzle.

Dental spray hand piece

A dental handpiece, which has a drive motor part with a drive shaft for rotation in a housing, and a grip section connected to the housing and having a head part with a socket for receiving and mounting a tool for rotation, and a drive train coupled to the drive shaft to transfer rotary motion from the motor to the socket, characterized by a sleeve surrounding the housing and being axially removeable from the housing and the grip section so that parts of the handpiece can be individually sterilized as necessary without subjecting the motor to sterilization.
