A push-button switch device for keyboards is provided with a multiple keyboard spanning several keys of the keyboard carrier plate and a support arrangement such that operation of the keybutton is balanced even though the key-button switch may be positioned asymmetrically with respect to the multiple button. The support arrangement includes a U-shaped guide bracket which is pivotally fastened on one side in the keybutton and on the other side over the carrier plate. A guide portion is positioned in a carrier plate recess adjacent to the key housing for the push-button switch and has the same shape as the key housing, enabling the guide portion to possibly be replaced by an actual key housing to rearrange the keybutton line-up in the keyboard. The end of the guide bracket adjacent the carrier plate is connected to a support piece which is slidably supported over the upper surface of the guide portion. A guide tongue extends beneath the keybutton through a guide aperture formed in the guide portion. This arrangement serves to align movement of the keybutton during activation of the push-button switch so that jamming of the push-button switch in a multiple button arrangement is prevented.

The inclination angle of a keyboard is made infinitely adjustable between preset maximum and minimum angles to suit individual operator and work place needs by means of an adjustment assembly. The assembly calls for selectably setting cam plate housing seats located at one end of the keyboard to increase or lower the angle of inclination.

A component protective system is disclosed for an electrical component which can be soldered in a printed circuit board by means of a solder bath. A portion of the components which projects through the printed board is protected from the influence of the solder bath by use of a protective collar arranged around the portion to be protected. The protective collar is open in a direction toward the solder bath and projects beyond the portion to be protected. Upon immersion of the component together with the printed circuit board into a solder bath, an air cushion is formed within the protective collar. This air cushion prevents contact between the solder and the portion to be protected and forms a heat insulator which protects this portion from heat damage.

A push-button key switch for keyboards, having an actuating member, and a helical spring which functions as a return spring for the actuating member and as a movable contact element. The helical spring comprises two sections, one of which is employed as the return spring, and which engages a seating surface on the actuating member. The other section of the spring extends beyond the seating surface and is adapted to engage a cooperable stationary counter-contact upon actuation of the actuating member. The switch may be readily designed as a single pole-single throw switch or a single pole-double throw switch, and may be designed to provide predetermined contact pressures between closed contacts.

In one illustrated embodiment a generally conical locating member for a transducer head has a guide surface extending thereabout in successive turns of progressively increasing radius. In another embodiment two generally conical sections provide respective axially oppositely directed guide surfaces whose pitch runs in the same direction such that with head locating arms resiliently engaging the respective guide surfaces, the head is always positively locked with the angular position of the conical drive member. With a stepping motor drive, the guide surface or surfaces may comprise successive flat faces each having a tangential extent to compensate for maximum error in stepping angle. The conical members are made by injection molding for least possible cost.
