The method and an apparatus provide for the automatic provision and transfer of a reserve lap (WR) from a reserve position (RP) to a working position (AP) in a machine (K to K ) for processing wound laps and for the automatic discharge of an empty tube (H) from the working position (AP). The invention relates to an apparatus for forming a sliver with a first regulated drafting arrangement (10) with several pairs of rollers (11, 12, 14) for the regulated drafting of the fibre mass (8) supplied to the drafting arrangement, with the fibre fleece (28) delivered by the drafting arrangement being joined and supplied to a measuring member (32) from where the measured fibre material is thereafter supplied to a second drafting arrangement (40) and with the autoleveller device (35, 52, 21) of the first drafting arrangement (10) intervening in a regulating manner in the drive of the first drafting arrangement (40) in order to compensate fluctuations in mass on the basis of the signals issued by the measuring member (32) by including a predetermined setpoint value. Various regulating and control devices are known in practice in order to obtain a high-quality sliver. In order to detect and compensate short-wave and long-wave fluctuations in mass in a simple way an apparatus is proposed, with the second drafting arrangement (40) being provided with a control device (35, 50, 48) for compensating short-wave fluctuations in mass, which device intervenes in a controlling manner in the drive of the second drafting arrangement (40) on the basis of the signals issued by the measuring member (32).

The control system uses a digital position controller for controlling the movement of a yarn end for re-piecing, for example in a rotor spinning machine. Method and apparatus for initiation of servicing operations in a textile

In order to coordinate the movements of two movable parts on a spinning frame and a service robot, a system is provided in which one part carries two sensors which are used to detect the position of the other part within the respective measuring ranges of the sensors. This system provides for rough positioning of one part to the other at a relatively high speed until the first sensor detects the second part. Thereafter, coordination of the movements of the two parts takes place within narrow tolerance limits using the second sensor which has a narrow measuring range.

According to the method, an end part of a roving is first introduced into the main drafting zone of a drafting frame of a textile machine after a reference point at a clamping device. Thereafter, a middle part of the roving is drawn laterally into the preliminary drafting zone solely by the tension of the main drafting zone. The apparatus comprises a gripper which is connected via a pivotable arm or a telescopic arm to a mobile or stationary robot which can cooperate either with a pusher, a spacer or a fixed slider.

When a thread (10) supplied at a constant speed is wound onto a cross-wound bobbin (11), the variations in thread tension are compensated, and in addition predetermined thread-tension limiting values are prevented from being exceeded as a result of a change in the winding-on speed. A first regulating system (96) is provided for compensating periodic variations in the thread tension, while a second regulating system (51) is provided for compensating shifts in the range of thread tensions. The second regulating system is designed as a variable step-up gear (5), the drive part (60) of which is connected to a drive shaft (4) extending over several spooling stations. The output part (62) of this step-up gear (5) is connected to the spooling roller (3), the drive part (60) being connected to the output part (62) by means of a transmission member (61) which determines the gear ratio at any particular time and which is adjustable as a function of the thread tension. The drive part (60) and the output part (62 ) are both designed as cone wheels, between which the transmission member (61) is continuously adjustable. The transmission member (61) has assigned to it an adjustable basic position and a return device (89) for returning to a basic position determining the maximum step-up ratio.

Process and apparatus for winding a thread supplied at a constant speed

The yarn reserve forming device is constructed and operated to release a yarn loop for uncontrolled movement from a deflected yarn path into a normal yarn path for return to the withdrawal tube of the spinning machine. The yarn reserve forming device includes a yarn retainer which can be pivoted to release the yarn loop for immediate return to the withdrawal tube.

Each of the operating stations is provided with a locating element while the service tender carries a sensor for aligning the service tender with a selected operating stations. The sensor includes a rotatable member on which a pair of rollers is mounted and from which a leaf extends to cooperate with various photodetectors. With the sensor in an operative position, the rollers sequentially contact the locating element of a selected operating station and by pivoting cause the leaf to cooperate with the photodetectors to generate a sequence of signals. This sequence of signals is used to slow the service tender and to thereafter brake the service tender to a halt in alignment with the selected operating station. Should the service tender overrun the locating element, signals are also generated to reverse the direction of movement of the service tender in order to effect alignment.

Automat location system

Each of the spinning stations is provided with a profile locating element or marker as well as a signal lamp for indicating a disturbance in a spinning unit. The service tender carries a locating device which includes a spring biased body which is capable of moving perpendicularly to the direction of movement of the service tender towards a spinning unit to which the service tender has been called. The body carries a pair of rollers which are mounted on a pivotable turntable so as to be pivoted when passing over a locating element of a spinning station. The locating device serves to generate signals for braking the service tender to a halt in alignment with a selected spinning station. The service tender also carries an anchoring system which uses a plate coated with a layer of friction material for engaging a rail on which the service tender moves for securing the tender in an aligned position with a spinning station.

The thread reserve forming device employs a pivotally mounted part which cooperates with a second part to position a yarn in three positions in order to form a yarn reserve while also overlapping a tail extending from the yarn reserve towards an original clamping force.

The bobbin gripper employs a pair of roller assemblies which are skewed relative to the axis of the bobbin carried by the gripper in order to impose an axial force on the bobbin. The force is used to press the bobbin towards one arm of the cradle mechanism when the mechanism is reopened for yarn clamping. The thread reserve forming device employs a pivotally mounted part which cooperates with a second part to position a yarn in three positions in order to form a yarn reserve while also overlapping a tail extending from the yarn reserve towards an original clamping force.

A winding station in a traverse winding frame for winding thread on a package comprises a belt drive for rotating a cheese or bobbin via a driving roller and a grooved drum for thread laying. The grooved drum drive has a continuously variable gear, whose speed is continuously variable by an adjusting linkage. The speed of the cheese and the grooved drum is measured by two tachometers and supplied as a corresponding signal to a computer, in which the actual value calculated from the two signals is compared with a desired value stored in the computer and a correction signal is then fed to a control element for adjusting the adjusting linkage. Thus, the cheese can be wound with a thread winding, which combines the advantages of a random winding with a constant pitch angle and a precision winding with a substantially constant turns ratio during partial windings, without suffering from their disadvantages.
