The invention relates to sheet material having an electrical circuit and to apparatuses and methods for processing said sheet material. The present invention describes sheet material having an electrical circuit as well as apparatuses and methods for processing same, which reduce the effort required for processing the sheet material and/or facilitate processing and/or improve it and/or make it more reliable. For this purpose, the sheet material has at least one electrical circuit, with energy and/or data being transmitted from the apparatus to the electrical circuit and/or from the electrical circuit to the apparatus and at least part of the transmitted data being used for processing.

Devices and method for the production of sheet material

A security document with a security element, wherein the security element includes at least partly a material that is optically changeable by an electric or magnetic field. In addition, a corresponding method for producing such a security document and a test method for testing such a security document are described.

Security document

A bar code is integrated in the paper in the form of a watermark. The fields () which separate the information-conveying bars of the bar code from each other are formed as watermarks. The information-conveying bars can be formed as watermarks, but they do not have to. Their width results from the spacing of the separating fields (). The separating fields () are more narrow than the information-conveying bars, as a result of which the total length of the bar code is kept short.

Security element

A security element in the form of a thread or strip to be embedded in security documents such as bank notes, checks, bonds, identity cards, credit cards or the like, having characters, patterns, etc., that are readable by transmitted light to the naked eye and/or by machine. The security element consists of a transparent plastic film having an opaque coating extending over the element with blank areas in the form of the characters and patterns to be introduced. The security element also contains, in areas congruent with the blank areas, coloring and/or luminescent substances which cause the characters and/or patterns to differ from the security document and from the opaque coating by color contrast under suitable light conditions.

The invention relates to a security document, in particular a bank note, identity card or the like, having a security element which is provided with characters, patterns, etc., visually readable at least in transmitted light and which is electrically conductive and bears additional substances for machine testing, and to a method for producing such a security element. The security element preferably consists of a transparent film strip that bears negative writing readily capable of visual checking and is additionally provided with electrically conductive and magnetic substances.

In order to increase the protection against forgery of a security paper, a security inlay made of polymer material having piezoelectric and/or pyroelectric properties is embedded in the security paper. The presence of such an inlay can be tested by means of contacting and non-contacting measuring methods.

A security with a paper substrate which exhibits identifying marks in the form of color patterns. The color patterns are arranged in the substance of the paper substrate in such a manner that the normal structure of the fibres in the substance of the paper layer is not disturbed by the color patterns. In the manufacture of the security, the color pattern is sprayed on to the not yet completely finished non-woven fibre during the formation of the paper sheet, and is preferably sprayed on to a non-woven fibre which is then united to a second non-woven fibre.
