A microfluidic lab-on-a-chip system for DNA gene assembly that utilizes a DNA symbol library and a DNA linker library. The lab-on-a-chip has a fluidic platform with a plurality of arrays operably connected to a voltage source and a controller for the voltage source, a set of first inlets operably connected to the fluidic platform, each first inlet for one DNA symbol from a DNA symbol library, a set of second inlets operably connected to the fluidic platform, each second inlet for one DNA linker from a DNA linker library, and a mixing area operably connected to the fluidic platform and to the plurality of first inlets and the plurality of second inlets.

Microfluidic lab-on-a-chip for gene synthesis

An edge node has a central processing operable to gather sensor node data via a sensor and store at least part of the sensor node data locally in a public region of a persistent storage. The edge node backs up duplicate portions of the sensor node data to public storage regions of peer-edge nodes. The edge node receives private data from a host that is coupled to the edge computing node and the peer edge nodes, and stores the private data in a private region of the persistent storage. The private region is protected from the peer edge nodes using distributed key management.

A method for reducing noise in a read signal due attributable to read element asymmetry provides for transmitting a write signal through a write precompensation circuit that shifts rising edges and falling edges of each of pulse in the write signal by a select magnitude and in opposite directions. After the write signal is encoded on a media, a corresponding read signal is read, with a read element, from the media. The method further provides for transmitting the read signal through a magnetoresistive asymmetry compensation (MRAC) block that is tuned to correct second-order non-linearities characterized by a particular set of distortion signatures. The select magnitude of the waveform shift applied by the write precompensation circuit introduces a non-linear signal characteristic that combines with non-linear signal characteristics introduced by the read element to generate one of the particular distortion signatures that is correctable by the MRAC block.

A controller extracts a distortion component of a readback signal from a magnetic read head. The distortion component may be found using a finite length Volterra series, for example. The controller estimates a clearance between the read head and a recording medium based on the distortion component. This clearance measurement can be used for closed loop fly-height control of the read head.

Methods of gene assembly and their use in DNA data storage

Systems and methods are disclosed for a multiple detector data channel and data detection utilizing different cost functions. For example, a digital data channel system can have multiple data detectors where each data detector implements a distinct cost function for detecting data. A cost function analyzer can then selectively choose decisions from the multiple data detectors to generate a data sequence. In some examples, a dual detector system may have one detector implement a Soft-Output Viterbi Algorithm (SOVA) cost function and another detector implement a peak detection algorithm. Further, in some embodiments, the cost function analyzer can implement multiple selection criteria to determine which decisions to include in a data sequence from the multiple data detectors.

An apparatus includes a write pole that stores data on tracks on a data storage medium. The apparatus also includes side shields on first and second sides of the write pole, and a trailing shield above the write pole and above the side shields. The apparatus further includes a microwave assisted magnetic recording oscillator having conductive pads that form capacitors with portions of a conductive film of the data storage medium. The conductive pads are positioned on a medium-facing surface of a slider that includes the write pole, the side shields and the trailing shield.

One or more networks each include a plurality of sensor nodes operable to communicate public data with each other. Each of the plurality of sensor nodes is operable to gather sensor node data and store the sensor node data locally on the sensor node. Duplicate portions of the sensor node data are distributed to the public data of others of the plurality of sensor nodes via the public data paths for backup storage. The system includes a host that is coupled to individually communicate private data with each of the plurality of sensor nodes. Each of the sensor nodes protects the private data from others of the sensor nodes using distributed key management to ensure distributed encryption.

First and second tracks are read simultaneously via a first reader mounted in a head-gimbal assembly. The first reader provides a first signal based on detecting a total perpendicular field of the first and second tracks. The first and second tracks are read simultaneously via a second reader mounted in the head-gimbal assembly. The second reader provides a second signal based on detecting a total longitudinal field of the first and second tracks. At least one of a position error and a timing error of at least one of the first and second readers are determined based on user data read via the respective first and second signals.

The controller is configured to determine a distance between the slider and the magnetic recording medium based at least in part on amplitudes of read signals from both the first reader and the second reader.

Pseudorandom bit sequences are recorded to a heat-assisted recording medium at a laser power that is stepped while recording the pseudorandom bit sequences. A first reader spans first and second tracks of a recording medium and provides a first signal responsive to a first total longitudinal field of the first and second tracks. A second read spans two other tracks, at least one of the two other tracks being different from the first and second tracks. The second reader provides a second signal responsive to a second total longitudinal field of the two other tracks. A third reader spans two or more of the tracks and provides a third signal responsive to a total perpendicular field of the two or more tracks. User data is decoded from the first, second, and third signals.

A servo sector on a disk is read via first and second readers that both span two or more user data tracks. The servo sector has a crosstrack width that spans the two or more user data tracks. The first reader provides a first signal based on detecting a total longitudinal field of the servo sector. The second reader provides a second signal based on detecting a total perpendicular field of the servo sector. A position error of the first and second readers is detected using. A value of the first signal can be used to detect a position error, detect a track-to-track phase error, and/or detect a Gray code error of a track ID field of the servo sector.
