A combined panic exit and combination lock assembly for a security area door including a panic exit device on the door inner side and a high security combination lock on the door outer side, wherein operation of a panic bar from within the security area concurrently retracts both the latch system of the panic exit device and the lock bolt of the combination lock for egress from the security area. However, retraction of the panic exit latch system and of the lock bolt from outside the door requires independent unlocking operation of both the panic exit device and combination lock. A primary latch bolt of the exit device is retracted by a rod member and main control link, and secondary outputs and associated secondary latch bolts are connected to bellcranks. One of the secondary outputs is connected to the combination lock bolt mechanism and its associated bellcrank is coupled by a lost motion linking system to the rod member so that retracting movement is imparted to the couping link from the rod member without relative motion between them to achieve concurrent retracting movement of the latch bolts and lock bolt and relative lost motion movement of the coupling link with respect to the rod member is accommodated upon independent retraction of the lock bolt or the primary latch bolt from outside the door.

High security panic exit system

An electronic time lock for bank vault doors and the like having a door bolting mechanism including a snubber bar, the time lock including a lock case, an intermediate vertical partition located in said chamber between front and rear walls of the case, the rear wall and intermediate partition having surfaces defining cylindrical guide bores for reciprocating movement of the snubber bar therein. A pair of electric motors are arranged in side-by-side relation on the intermediate partition to drive a blocking member through a pair of drive trains between blocking and release position for blocking the snubber bar against movement to an unlocking position and releasing the snubber bar. A printed circuit board is provided having a solid state visible display strip for displaying programmed instructions and information regarding the state of the time lock aligned with a window in the front wall of the case for viewing of the displayed information therethrough and a plurality of electrical switch program buttons are located on the front wall of the lock case.

Electronic time lock

A changeable key cylinder padlock including a padlock casing, a shackle moveable between a lower locking position and a upper release position, the casing having a central substantially cylindrical cavity therein located between the sockets shaped to receive and removably house a key lock cylinder. The lock cylinder located in the plug cavity has a first key position and is operable by a operator key and control key to rotate to second and third key positions respectively. Locking spheres are positioned when the lock cylinder occupies the first key position to hold the shackle in the lower locking position and release the shackle at the second and third key positions for movement to said upper release position. An interlock plunger and pin are intercoupled with the lock plug normally occupying a first interlock position allowing key rotation of the cylinder member to and between the key positions and movable when the cylinder member occupies the second key position and the shackle is moved to said release position to assume a second interlock position restraining the cylinder member against return movement to the first key position to restrain the key against removal from the lock cylinder.

Changeable key cylinder exposed shackle padlock

A changeable key plug type padlock including a padlock body formed as an upper body section and a lower body section defining a pair of companion relatively displaceable body sections having correspondingly shaped outer peripheries in cross-section forming continuations of each other in aligned registered relation. The padlock casing has laterally spaced sockets disposed partially in both companion body sections opening through the upper portion of the padlock body for receiving legs of a shackle and a central substantially cylindrical plug cavity located between the sockets. The lower padlock body section having an elongated slideway cavity communicating with the plug cavity and extending from the zone overlying the plug cavity through one end of the lower padlock body section, defining a slideway portion bounded laterally by alternating tongue and groove formation, and the upper body section has an integral downwardly extending slide formation at the bottom thereof conforming substantially to the shape of the slideway cavity. A rotatable adaptor cam in an upper portion of the plug cavity is rotatable by the key lock plug between a locking position and first and second shackle release portions and has formations receiving a projection from the slide formation to restrain the slide formation and upper body section against movement from aligned registry with the lower body section when the adaptor cam occupies the locking position and the first release position and to release the body section for coupling and decoupling movement at said second release position.

High security changeable key cylinder type shackle padlock

A cylinder lock of the rotary disc tumbler and pin tumbler type having an outer cylindrical shell casing, a plug assembly in the said casing including an inner shell member rotatable therein forming a shear line between the casing and shell member and a stack of locking disc tumblers within the shell member. The casing houses a plurality of elongated, axially slidable segmented pin tumblers biased toward the disc tumblers each having a separation line intermediate its length. The disc tumblers each have a stepped bottom peripheral gate alignable with and adapted to receive adjacent portions of the pin tumblers therein to various depths causing pin tumbler portions spaced from said separation line to cross the shear line in a locked position of the plug assembly and are movable by key rotation of the disc tumblers to align their separation lines with the shear line to unlock the plug assembly for rotation.

High security rotary disc, pin tumbler type cylinder lock

A two movement time lock for bank vault doors and the like including a lock case for enclosing the timer units and a cover having transparent portions through which the dials of the timer units can be viewed. A pivoted integral locking lever of generally inverted distorted 'T' shaped configuration has a pair of oppositely extending foot formations to be engaged and moved by trip formations of the timer units and a spring biased lever is interlinked with the locking lever above the pivot for normally positioning the locking lever at a cocked position when timer unit dials are displaced from the zero position. A pivoted snubber-bar blocking lever in the lock case is normally spring biased to a release position freeing a snubber bar to move to an unlocking position and a spring biased plunger has a first plunger position for forcing the blocking lever to snubber-bar blocking position and has a portion engagable by the locking lever for releasably restraining the plunger in such position when the locking lever is in cocked position.

Two movement time lock

A double changeable tumbler lever type key lock for safe deposit boxes and the like having a slidable bolt plate carrying a stack of fence members, and a stack of tumbler levers occupying positions in the locked condition to bar retraction of the fence members and bolt plate from locking position. The tumbler levers each have first and second lift edge portions and are movable responsive to a guard key and a renter's key engageable with the pair of lift edge portions of each tumbler lever to position the levers to permit retraction of the bolt to unlocking position. Mounting structure on the bolt plate supports the fence members of the stack for guided adjustment to positions corresponding to a predetermined range of key shapes and for selectively clamping the fence members in their adjusted position.

Single lever, double changeable safe deposit lock

A changeable safe deposit lock, usable in a single key or a double key configuration, having one or a pair of stacks of vertically slidable adjustable fences carried on a bolt plate and held in adjusted positions by a clamping assembly having a changing screw which is accessible at the back of the lock when the bolt plate is in unlocked position. After insertion of a key for which the lock is presently conditioned and rotation of the key to the unlocked condition, the screw may be loosened and the key rotated an additional distance whereby the initial key can be removed from the lock and a second key may be placed in the lock and rotated to return the bolt plate to the locked position and the changing screw tightened down to lock the fences in the new position adapted to the new key.

Changeable safe deposit lock with slidable clamped fences

A combination lock dial and ring assembly for combination locks and the like for limited range top reading of the dial indicia by reflected light rays only, including a rotatable dial member having a circular dial portion and a knob formation projecting forwardly therefrom wherein the dial portion has a rearwardly facing annular indicia bearing surface adjacent its periphery provided with rearwardly facing dial graduations and mirror image reversed dial numerals thereon for reading along reflected light ray paths. The dial ring has a forwardly facing dial receiving cavity encircled by an integral shielding surround ring formation over a sufficient extent to exclude observation of the dial graduations and numerals laterally and below the dial portion and having an interruption of limited circumferential extent providing a sight opening for observation of the dial graduations and numerals in a restricted observation zone generally above and vertically aligned with the axis of the dial member. The surface of the dial receiving cavity rearwardly adjacent the dial has an arcuate light-reflecting mirror surface at least spanning the arcuate extent of said sight opening positioned to reflect light rays from said dial graduations and numerals along reflection ray paths extending along upwardly and forwardly inclined paths to the restricted observation zone.

View limiting dial and ring structure for combination locks and the like

A key operated rotary core cylinder lock having rotary disc tumblers arranged in a pack with intervening spacer members within a rotary core sleeve normally held against rotation within the lock casing by a locking bar which spans the shear line between the disc tumbler peripheries and the confronting wall of the rotary core sleeve or shell. Gates are provided in the disc tumblers to be aligned by an appropriate key with the locking bar for releasing the plug for rotation, and the spacer members are of a truncated triangular cross-sectional configuration having rounded corners bearing against and positioned by the cylindrical bore in the core sleeve and have flat side portions between the rounded corners and larger radius center openings than the radii of the key openings in the disc tumblers to provide spaces for accommodating foreign matter contaminants. Exposed shackle padlocks incorporating such rotary core cylinder lock components are also disclosed.

Key lock cylinder for possibly contaminated environments

A changeable plug exposed shackle padlock comprising a padlock casing and a U-shaped shackle having legs with locking notches interfitting in sockets in the upper end of the casing. A key lock plug is removably received in a plug cavity in the casing and an elongated slideway cavity overlying the plug cavity extends through one end of the padlock casing outwardly adjacent the socket for the shorter leg and receives a reciprocative slidable cover member in its upper portion extending in covering relation over the plug cavity with a hole for the shorter shackle leg registering with the socket for that shackle leg when said slide member is in covering relation to the plug cavity. A slidable bolt plate member is guided for longitudinal sliding movement between locking and release positions in the lower portion of the slideway and has locking shoulders engageable in the locking notches of the shackle legs as is driven from the key lock plug.
