This invention provides methods for improving reproductive performance of lactating dairy cows and other mammals. The method in the case of cows comprises feeding to the cows, a composition comprising conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs), cis-9, trans-11 and trans-10, cis-12. When these CLAs are fed daily to dairy cows starting at or prior to calving, and continued after parturition, an improvement in reproductive performance is observed.

A mulch deck attachment for reducing grass clippings into particles of mulch which return nutrients back to the soil. The mulch deck attachment of the present invention may be coupled to a lawnmower and may include one or more rotating blades coupled to the mulch deck attachment. A first baffle may be coupled to the mulch deck attachment and may define one or more apertures. The first baffle may also at least be partially disposed within a turning radius defined by the one or more rotating blades. A second baffle may be coupled to the mower deck and may be disposed between the first baffle and the leading edge. One or more third baffles may also be coupled to the mower deck and may be partially disposed around a circumference defined by the one or more rotating blades. A fourth baffle may be coupled to the rear portion of the mulch deck attachment and may be partially disposed about the rotating blade.

Mulch deck attachment baffle system

A mulch plate adjustment apparatus for use with lawn mowers. The adjustment apparatus is used to adjust the height of a mulch plate attached to the lawn mower and to secure the mulch plate at the desired height by the use of a handle and handle-locking ratchet mechanism. The adjustment apparatus is affixed to the discharge chute of a lawn mower. The apparatus includes a handle-operated mulch plate raising-and-lowering mechanism that allows the mulch plate to be adjusted to different heights to accommodate different sized lawn mowers and different mowing conditions. The operator of the mulch plate adjustment apparatus can select a desired height for the mulch plate and safely secure the mulch plate at the selected height by simple operation of a handle. Further, the mulch plate apparatus provides a mechanism for allowing the mulch plate to be raised in a storage position without the need to provide extension wires or cables.

This invention relates to deliberately increasing growth hormone in swine during the last 2 weeks of pregnancy through a 3 week lactation. This has the effect of increasing fetal energy storage during late pregnancy which resulted in the newborn piglets having marked enhancement of the ability to maintain plasma concentrations of glucose and free fatty acids when fasted after birth. Likewise, treatment of the sow during lactation results in increased milkfat in the colostrum and an increased milk yield. These effects are important in enhancing survivability of newborn pigs and weight gain prior to weaning.
