A laundry basket and a handle assembly therefor are disclosed. The laundry basket includes a walled container having a peripheral rim about a substantial portion thereof, a pair of opposing hand openings adjacent the peripheral rim, and a pair of handle members extending, respectively, about the rim and through the hand openings, each of the handle members including a bottom portion positioned below the rim, the bottom portion defining an upper boundary of one of the hand openings and a top portion, the top portion being connected to the bottom portion, wherein one of the top or bottom portions of each of the handle members is integral to the peripheral rim. Each portion of the handle members preferably includes a curved exterior surface to facilitate the lifting and carrying of the basket.

Vanity basket

A laundry basket and a handle assembly therefor are disclosed. The laundry basket includes a walled container including a peripheral rim and a hand opening adjacent the rim. A handle extends about the rim and through the hand opening. The handle is preferably constructed from two pieces which are snapped together above and below the rim. Each piece includes a curved exterior surface to facilitate lifting and carrying the basket. The rim of the basket preferably includes an opening above the hand opening to facilitate the interlocking of the upper and lower pieces forming the handle.

A wastebasket is provided which includes a container, a lid pivotably mounted to the container, by a hinge, a foot-operated actuating mechanism for opening and closing the lid, and a projection extending from the bottom of the lid to prevent a trash liner secured to the container from interfering with either the hinge or the actuating mechanism. The projection also protects the actuating mechanism from becoming soiled and the lid from bouncing excessively when the lid is opened with too much force.

A wastebasket includes a container having a top opening, and a lid mounted on the container and adapted to pivot about a pivot axis to cover and uncover the top opening. A mechanism for actuating pivotal movement of the lid with respect to the container is provided. The mechanism includes a generally horizontal operating lever having a foot pedal, a depending flange joined to the lid, and a rod linkage interconnecting the operating lever and the flange. The lid flange has an elongated slot formed through its thickness. The slot includes a channel and two enlargements situated at opposite ends of the channel. The rod linkage slides through the channel into one of the two enlargements, and engages the lid flange at either enlargement to pivot the lid between positions covering and uncovering the container. A U-shaped member having legs is pivotally mounted on the lid flange and is adapted to pivot with its legs across the elongated slot near one of the enlargements to help keep the rod linkage from inadvertently slipping out of the enlargement and into the channel of the slot when lid is being pivoted to a position uncovering the container.

A toy figure comprising a hollow body or torso member has at least one extremity receiving socket disposed therewithin having an annular sidewall and a base wall and formed integrally with the body member. The hollow extremities have a projecting socket with an annular sidewall and a base wall which has a depending boss extending into the cavity of the extremity, and a passage extends therethrough. A plug member is seated in the socket and it has a depending finger sealing the passage through the base wall of the socket. A connector engages the outer surface of the socket of the extremity and the inner surface of the socket of the torso to provide a rotatable connection between them. Expanding air pressure in the extremity cavity causes the material of the depending boss to clamp the finger tightly to seal the passage and hold the plug in assembly.
