A skin-stiffener transition assembly () with a skin () and two L-shaped fiber-reinforced fabric preforms () for a flange and a composite gusset filler () integrated between said skin () and said two L-shaped fiber-reinforced fabric preforms (). The skin () comprises two separate skin layers () and the flange comprises a flange layer (), each of said skin layers () and said flange layer () being provided with cut outs () along one side. Said skin layers () and the flange layer () are attached to the composite gusset filler () with at least one of its cut-outs () to one side of the essentially polygonal cross section of the composite gusset filler () and with at least one of its adjacent cut-outs () to another side of the essentially polygonal cross section of the composite gusset filler (). The present invention relates as well to a method of manufacture of said skin-stiffener transition assembly () and to applications of said skin-stiffener transition assembly ().

An impact-absorbing, load-limiting connection device includes a first connection structure, a second connection structure, a guiding mechanism, and at least one impact-absorbing, load-limiting sacrificial element disposed between the first and second connection structure. At least one of the first and second connection structures is moveable with respect to the other in a predetermined direction of movement corresponding to an anticipated main impact direction. The guiding mechanism is configured to guide at least one of the first and second connection structures along the direction of movement and includes at least one transverse force-absorbing guide element configured to absorb a force in a direction transverse to the direction of movement. The sacrificial element is disposed as to be uncoupled from a transverse load path of the transverse force-absorbing guide element, and is configured to be deformed and destroyed by a relative movement between the first and second connection structures upon application of predetermined maximum load. In addition, a rotary-wind aircraft, especially a helicopter, that includes at least one such connection device.

For producing a structural component of fiber-reinforced material by a resin transfer molding process, a preform unit is inserted in a form tool including upper and lower metal molds enclosing the perform unit therebetween, without a seal between the molds. The preform unit includes a resin-impregnatable and curable preform body of reinforcing fibers, and an envelope that encloses the preform body and includes an envelope sleeve and closures with valves at the two ends thereof. The sealed envelope is evacuated around the preform body through one valve, and resin is injected through the other valve. The envelope prevents resin discharge from the unsealed form tool during resin impregnation of the preform body.

Method and apparatus for producing a structural unit made of fiber reinforced material

In order to attain a cost-effective manufacturing, suitable for large-scale production, in the case of a rail wheel, and, at the same time, a high degree of structural strength, whereby the wheel disk, which rigidly joins the wheel hub (4) with the wheel tire in a fibrous composite type of construction, is made of two external fibrous composite surface layers and a characteristically light inner core, which transmits shearing force, arranged between them, the inner core is composed, according to the invention, of ring segment-shaped, foam plastic-filled fibrous composite hollow cases (22), each consisting of web portions (28), running radially between the wheel hub and the wheel tire, arranged perpendicularly to the surface layers, with an intersecting fibrous orientation, slanted at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the sections, as well as profile side walls (30), formed in one piece, on the longitudinal edges of the web portions, with a continuous fibrous structure, each evenly bonded with the inner surface of the surface layers, and of segment extensions (32, 34), lying contiguously, in one piece, on the web portion ends, forming the outer and inner surrounding edges of the hollow cases.

In a bending load beam, in particular for the truck or bogie frames of rail vehicles, comprising a fiber composite structure relatively rigid at least in the center of the beam, elastic at the beam end sections, having an upper and a lower fiber cord fashioned as respective upper and lower flanges with the fiber oriented in the longitudinal direction of the beam and with a fiber composite core placed between the fiber cords to maintain their distance, the fiber composite core is composed of fiber composite load webs distributed lamellae-like over the width of the beam. The load webs are oriented in the longitudinal direction of the beam, form the boundaries of hollow chambers, and are bound into the upper and the lower fiber cords. The fibers of the load webs are oriented obliquely to the longitudinal direction of the beam, with which the demands of high torsion resistance, great flexural strength and a defined rigidity increasing from the relatively less rigid end sections toward the beam center are met in ways which do justice to the fiber composite material and save weight.

In order to achieve in a truck for a track vehicle with an H-shaped truck frame which consists of a composite fiber structure serving the function of a primary spring, with two longitudinal beams connected to each other via transverse beams, a distribution of the loads of the truck frame suitable for composite fibers, the frame contains a torsion-elastic central plate member which couples the longitudinal beams to each other independently of the transverse beams, is designed in the truck plane as a frame stiffening element, is provided with load introduction points for the longitudinal and transverse support of the vehicle body and is designed as a bending-stiff composite fiber component for the transmission of longitudinal and transverse forces between the load introduction points and the longitudinal beams.
